It's not surprising that people are longing for sun and warmth now. But finding holidays that meet Swedes' requirements for a week in the sun is more difficult: "Not too long to travel, not too expensive and warm enough to sunbathe and swim". You only have to look at a map to understand the problem. Europe is too cold. Asia and South America are too far away. That leaves North Africa or the Middle East.
North Africa and the Middle East
Many Muslim countries have opened up to tourism, and there are fine hotels in EgyptTunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. The risk in some of these places is that you get stuck behind high walls in an all-inclusive hotel and don't get to see much of the country. And that is a bit sad ...
We've been to Egypt and didn't particularly enjoy it (although there are some interesting sights). What is your best suggestion for a week-long trip in February that fulfils the criteria "not too long to travel, not too expensive and warm enough to sunbathe and swim"?

Hello! What a lovely picture and certainly your nice blog is worthy of a nomination in the "congestion class" we can start some kind of alternative gala just like with the Nobel Prize!
As I said, lovely picture, I would like to be there now.
I have to admit one thing, sometimes I am "unfaithful" and now I am reminded of it when I see the luxury cruiser on the shore in the background of the picture! When no one sees me, I park the campervan a block away and sneak into boat shows!
But as with regular infidelity, I of course want to keep the cake and also eat it so the dream would be a damn big boat so you could take the motorhome on it! Or some kind of pontoon option where the motorhome still constitutes the accommodation but you have it on some kind of double hull with engines, have seen something like that somewhere!
"If I had been unfaithful for real?" -Never die, I was inevitably killed by my wife! I wonder if that would qualify as "honour-related violence"?
Sorry, I'm now writing on a "travel/caravanning blog so we'll ignore such problems today!
Started up the "Car" yesterday, no problem, after a minute she purred like a cat, actually crawled up in the alcove and breathed in the lovely smell of motorhome and actually I could not feel a little Mediterranean sand against the cheek of one of the bedding! Maybe I deliberately neglected the vacuuming! In any case, a fig leaf was left in the strip at one roof hatch, wondering if I don't get a little "teary-eyed" now!
Have a great weekend and take care of you and yours!
Hugs from Peter!

Hello again!
Hmm, I use shadowbox JS as well. If you have it activated, you can check under "Settings" and you have "Shadowbox JS" where you can choose the language, among other things.
Then when you add an image, select "link to image".
Otherwise, it should work automatically. Try a new image, add it, select "link to image" or whatever it is exactly called where you insert the image =).
Let us know if it doesn't work.

Well... difficult question. Depends on HOW hot you want it, of course.
The Canary Islands can be something if you feel like it. Touristy of course, but so is Thailand (parts of it anyway)...
Egypt I have heard a lot of negative things about that you do not get to see as much as you would like and is very controlled to the tourist areas that you are not allowed to move completely freely. A pity.

North Africa is perfect when we have winter here.
Our little dog gets his passport in the middle of April.
Then we are free to go where and when we want. That's nice.

We have just returned from 9 days in Dubai. Have been there several times before. Always in work but you have time for some other things too. And the crisis was not noticed as much as the newspapers made out. Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, 828 metres, is a beauty! And we got the hotel room for 850 SEK (word price about 3000!) Cheap flight also 3500 SEK. Nice beaches. Cool desert. We stayed in the Indian part of town, Bur Dubai, cosy.

We have heard positive things about Dubai from others as well. Might be worth trying in case!
