So here in the rain, it may well be suitable to dream away to some nice beaches! A beach is a beach, but they can be quite different! A deserted paradise beach with palm trees, or perhaps a beach full of food stalls, children and activities. Here we list some of our favourite beaches, in different ways. Do you have a favourite beach to dream away to?
Table of contents
1. Boracay, Philippines
The long white sandy beach with the palm trees on it. Boracay is like something out of a glamorous brochure. You can sunbathe, sip exotic fruit drinks or sail, but you're far from alone.
2. Sopot in Poland
At the Grand Hotel and the pier in Sopot it's packed with people who want to sunbathe, listen to DJs or sip champagne. If you want to take it easy, just stroll down the beach ...
3. Lake Garda in Italy
It's beautiful all around Lake Garda. At the top of North Lake Garda it's a bit windy, which is why you see a lot of windsurfers here. Just above the beach there is a campervan campsite.
4. Hoi An, Vietnam
Since everyone is going to Thailand, you get a little more privacy in Vietnam, at least here in Hi An. The Vietnamese themselves shy away from the sun because it is beautiful to be white.
5. Rullsand in Gävle
One of our favourite beaches in Sweden can be found at Rullsands camping outside Gävle. There is a long, fine sandy beach, and at one end you can also eat your herring lunch without clothes.
6. Zanzibar in Tanzania
On Zanzibar meets long white beaches, with no big crowds. You can really slow down here, perhaps taking a trip to an island, a spice farm or Stonetown.
7. Whole in Poland
Hel is a 35 km long narrow spit of land with sandy beaches on both sides. These must be the finest beaches in Europe! Very popular with Polish campers and windsurfers.
8th Malta
On Malta there are only a few sandy beaches, but the rocks are almost shaped like small pools, and there are ladders everywhere for easy access to swimming.
9. Langkawi in Malaysia
The beach in Langkawi is nice and easy to access even if, like us, you stayed in a hotel without a beach.
10. Lignano Sabbiadoro in Italy
Perfect if you want a bit of life and activity. From Camping Sabbiadoro you are close to the beach, shopping streets and restaurants.

Thank you for this wonderful summer post. Besides the Asian beaches, we have visited most of your favourites!
If you have the roads past Riga/Jurmala/Majori, there are 33 km of beach to enjoy. Clean and nice, not a smudge and above all no stones like in Gävle;-)

BP, there are some nice beaches in the Baltics! I visited a beach there when I was very young, but don't remember exactly where and don't have photos in my computer. Rullsands beach is smooth and nice further away... but the nude beach is in the rocky part....
😉
Anna Granström, oh looking forward to such a post!

Oh what a sigh!!! Almost have to make a similar post. When I get time. Maybe next weekend?
My favourite is the flamenco beach in Culebra. And Los Tubos in Manati... I have to show pictures!

Some beaches I recognised. But I liked the beach on Boracay. Where we stayed there was plenty of space and the water was crystal clear and turquoise. Otherwise, Puh Quoc in Vietnam is a favourite, as is La Mata beach just outside Torrevieja which is said to be Spain's longest, on the mainland. The Dominican Republic also offers great beaches, as do parts of the Caribbean.
Then I like Norsta Auren on Gotland, Fårö.
Denmark also has many beautiful beaches...
But now I have to settle for a quick dip...
Thailand also offers many beautiful beaches and you can find real gems without tourism.
But, Langkawi's beaches I was not fond of and mostly for the jellyfish that were in the water at the end of January the year we were there. Really unpleasant.
Glad you included so many beaches in Europe and many I have never visited.

My favourite beach is the beaches in Naama Bay in Sharm el Sheikh, because there you just need to put on your cyclops and snorkel and take about 3 swims and then you are out among the corals! Absolutely fantastic!
Otherwise, I liked some beaches along the Riviera...the ones that had pebbles instead of sand, I'm not a big fan of sandy beaches, there will be sand EVERYWHERE! 😛

Great pictures! My favourite beach of all times I found on the island of Maui, in Hawaii. White sand, almost no people, crystal clear blue water and dolphins jumping in the water's edge 🙂.

Nice with a post that became something of an aha experience for me. Have never even reflected on Poland as a country with beaches. As I said, I have a lot to discover in Europe!

Ditte, great to hear about your favourite beaches! I haven't experienced the beaches of Gotland and Denmark that much actually. As for Langkawi, we didn't see a single jellyfish, even though we were there in Dec-Jan... Maybe it's because of the currents and weather?
Alexandra, sounds cool with the corals!
Emmy, we would love to see such a post!
🙂
Sara, I imagine there are amazing beaches in Hawaii!
Marina, many people do not think of Poland, but there are very nice beaches there!

The beach in Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, has actually once been voted the most beautiful beach of all (can't remember where right now - Tripadvisor?) We have been there and it is one of our best beach memories ever!
In Europe, I have to say that Isla Cies outside Vigo in Galicia is a dream 😉.
And here in Sweden I want to take the opportunity to recommend two wonderful sandy beaches just around the corner actually, both Västra and Östra Nedsjön have surprisingly long, lovely beaches that are perfect for a swim after work when the heat strikes without being free!
Have a great start to the week!

It's nice that you have included Rullsand, where I spent a lot of time growing up in Gävle! It is so unknown, but oh so beautiful. 🙂
