Last year we travelled with the motorhome for a whole year. The motorhome became our home, whether it was in Portugal or Corsica or Albania. Now it stands still (deactivated!) in our car park. But we can't wait to get on the road with FREEDOM again!
Spring and summer in the houseboat
We have not been out with the motorhome at all this spring, except that we brought it home from winter storage in Arboga. There are several reasons for this. Initially, we were perhaps reasonably full on motorhome trips after 365 consecutive days in a motorhome last year.
We were also keen to experience spring and summer in the houseboat. The first summer with the houseboat we moved in in August, the second summer we renovated while the houseboat was on land and the third summer we went motorhoming in Europe. So of course we were looking forward to being in the houseboat! But there is another reason ...
The motorhome needs care
We did a lot of work on the motorhome during the European trip and there are a lot of things that don't work. A window pane is cracked, the drain in the shower is broken, one of the stove plates has stopped working, the foot step is not usable, the engine light comes on from time to time and the plastic is incredibly worn.
Our plan was to fix the car when we got home, but we simply haven't had the financial means. In general, we have had to think a lot about finances this spring and for this reason we have also cancelled the motorhome and left it in the car park.
Motorhome journeys ahead
We are still looking forward to experiencing the summer here in our wonderful houseboat, but still, it's twitching little in the motorhome frame now. It is so much like home for us and we have had so many fantastic experiences in it! Maybe we don't have the opportunity to fix everything we would like, but at least it will roll again.
The first plan is that we will go to Stora Nolia in Piteå in August, followed by the Elmia trade fair in Jönköping in September. In addition, there will be a small trip to Norrköping in October. Maybe we'll see you somewhere on the road?

If you don't have a treasure trove to draw on, you'll usually have to make do with what you've got.
Fantastic to have lived and travelled in the motorhome for a whole year and had all the great experiences! 😀 And you live so beautifully in the houseboat 😉.
By the way, Lidköping's Kronocamping came in 12th place among the best campsites in the country according to "Allt om resor".
Sunny hugs!

I understand that you long for motorhome life and think it's great that you are prioritising Stora Nolia in Piteå. Do you have a task there or is it entirely for yourself?

Ama de casa says:
Understand that you long for motorhome life again, but you are not exactly sitting in the lake where you are now. Actually, that's exactly what you're doing 😀.
I don't think we'll see each other on the road, but you never know... 🙂.

Anita, it's great to have a motorhome 🙂 .
Geddfish, yes but of course it is! We have had lots of fantastic experiences in the motorhome and we live very nicely in the houseboat, so we definitely do not complain! What fun that the Lidköping campsite got such a good location! 🙂
Henny, it is our own idea to go to Nolia but we have made a small deal with the fair. Among other things, we will blog about Stora Nolia and will get a small table as well 😉.
Ama de casa, yes we are in the lake... and we are in the same boat too 😉.
Charlotte Uleskog, that's the best thing about the motorhome, freedom!

You'll have to do the bare minimum and then take it from there. I imagine you're keen to get out on the road again!

It was an honest, wise and very sincere contribution. We ourselves have always balanced our finances against all costs. We had a period in our lives when we gave up an evening newspaper because we couldn't afford it. It's better to give up something so that you can enjoy it so much more later. You have such a nice boat, so enjoy it.

There is a time for everything and it costs money, often a lot of money, to refurbish and organise anything. So of course you have to weigh up and take a little at a time.
Great for parking the motorhome when not in use.
We love the summer in the Stockholm area and I wouldn't want to be without it. It's wonderful to be surrounded by water and enjoying it at home is a holiday in itself. That's how we feel.
And you have a number of planned trips coming up.

Mr Steve says:
I understand so well that you are longing for the motorhome. What a luxury to have two "homes" to look forward to.
We will probably not meet on the roads as my excursion radius is limited to Getingstorp and its surroundings. Not so crazy either.
Wishing you a great summer wherever you go!

He looks a bit sad - the Freedomtravel camper;-) It's probably lucky that you have the houseboat where you can live like in a holiday paradise in the Pampas Marina during the summer.

You live so nicely and can enjoy every day of it. But still I understand that it twitches in Freedom's gut to roll away. Everything has its time and soon you will be on your way.

Understand that Freedom is longing for you ??
If you don't have the wheels rolling underneath you, you have the waves rolling in underneath you in the houseboat - good roll regardless ? ?

You can take a trip to Norway and visit us on the way! We are for various reasons at home for most of the summer. Hope you get the opportunity to make the necessary improvements to the motorhome!

You have to prioritise, that's always the case. You live so nicely so it probably doesn't hurt to be home. We have chosen to be at home ourselves this year, just small excursions. We will also be at the Elmia fair.

Znogge, that's right! We have to take it one step at a time. Eventually we will get out on the roads! 🙂
Matts, of course you have to balance your finances! And we enjoy our houseboat 🙂 .
Ditte, everything has its time, you're right! As long as we park the campervan and enjoy the boat, that's fine!
Steve, yes it is indeed a luxury to have two homes to look forward to! Wishing you a great summer!
BP, haha yes a bit sad... Luckily we are there to hug him 😉.
Lennart, best time of the year now! 🙂
JoY, yes we do live nicely, and we enjoyed it! Really! But a little bit we miss Freedom anyway 😉.
Rolle and Carina, that's it! And both places feel like home 😉
Frankie & Co, well it's good that the waves are rolling anyway! 😉
Inga M, we have thought about going in that direction and it would be fun to stop by! But I do not know at all when it can happen ...
Nils-Åke, but what fun, then we will surely be at Elmia! 🙂

Wow, a motorhome is something I really want! But have been on parental leave for three years now with my two little girls so there has been no opportunity to own one. In the autumn when I start working, the focus will be on looking for a house! It will be priority one then maybe it can be a motorhome! ?
Lovely blog you have and you seem to live an incredibly fun life!
