This is what it looks like in our blog office! Helena (blog editorial team) is in the kitchen and Peter (marketing department) is upstairs. Sometimes we email each other, haha. Now we also have news going on!
Table of contents
The blog editorial team
The blog editor (Helena) sits in the kitchen of our houseboat. My main task is to write all the blog posts, because I like to write. I also follow a lot of other blogs, mostly because it's fun, but also to keep an eye on what's happening in the blog world.
All emails sent via the blog go to me, and if I think they are better suited to the marketing department, I send them to Peter. Always with the text "To the Marketing Department ... Regards Blog Editorial Board" haha.
Market breeding
The market breeder (Peter) sits upstairs in our living room. He manages our Instagram and also handles all business contacts, such as advertising, blog tours, newsletters, etc.
Other jobs?
You'd almost think the blog is our only job. That's how it feels sometimes, but unfortunately blogging doesn't pay our rent. I (Helena) lost my permanent job at the county council in Stockholm when we travelled around Europe.
Since we came home, I have had various project positions, first at Karolinska Institutet and now at Gävle University (remotely). I am a public health researcher and work mainly with qualitative studies, such as interview studies and the like. Peter has been working in construction for 25 years as a self-employed person, but design and marketing are his passion, and he has only done a few small projects since we came home.
News coming up!
So what's the news? Well, the marketing department is planning to step into the blog editor's domains. What!? The guy who just picks his belly button and has a good time in the marketing department's relaxation area ...? From next week, Peter will be writing on the blog on Fridays. Exactly! bet he will write about will let you know then.
Cat's Considerations says:
Oh... You are too lovely! You really offer yourselves. Looking forward with excitement to the news!

Imelda says:
Nice to get an insight into your everyday life. You have to work, but perhaps difficult with permanent jobs if you want to invest in travel in the way you do. Hope that Peter also gets a bite soon! You are so good at so much. Hugs

Goatfish says:
Haha, what a wonderful post 😉 You seem to be doing what you like, so right, so right 😉.
Yes, I have understood who is doing what with you. Follow you on Insta too, also FB.
Now I was curious about the new niche!
(I also have a blog editorial team - but lack a marketer. He was here before in our former "computer room" 😀 )

nils-åke hansson says:
Now the blog is going into the man's world! It will be exciting to read.

Matts Torebring says:
At first I smile, then I smile again, at how organised you are. Your blog office is far more exemplary than my rolling one. I myself move around between inside the motorhome, under the awning, the conservatory, the terrace or the holiday cottage. In the real office, we rarely call each other, we email because then we don't disturb each other. It will be interesting to see what Peter writes about. I still don't understand how you can keep up with it. You also reply to all the posts, which I do. Good luck to you!
19 June 2016 - 8:29
Lisa - life from the bright side says:
Haha! A lot of navel gazing?
19 June 2016 - 8:37
Lanclin-Linnea says:
Always fun to see a glimpse of how other bloggers work 🙂 At Lanclin's editorial office, I handle most of it, but my husband is in many ways involved in, for example, the development work (as the system economist he is). Not least, he keeps track of our wild children when I have to stop and take photos every now and then on our trips. That task is pretty much vital for the survival of our children in a travel blog family, ha ha!

Marie says:
You are wonderful & both departments do their jobs both zealously & creatively!

admin says:
Katta, I'm also looking forward to it with excitement, haha 😉.
Imelda, yes, that's exactly how it is! We are happy to work, but prefer to have jobs that we can combine with travelling and blogging... not easy....
Geddfish, yes, we do what we're passionate about and it's great to be able to do that, but it's not always easy to get it together... but who said life should always be easy?
Nils-Åke, yes haha, just like that! 😉
Matts, I think your portable blog office sounds pretty cosy! I don't really know how we have time either, but whatever we're doing, we're pretty intense as people, haha.
Lisa, yes, that has to stop now!? 😉
Linnea, yes childcare in the office is an important task! 🙂
Marie, yes, we work hard and zealously, luckily it's a lot of fun! 🙂
Anki, I also think it will be fun to see what he will write about...!

Anna, Travel on a Cloud says:
What a wonderful post!
I hope the reorganisation is going well and that the CEO (who is it?) and your union representative (who is it?) are on board (hehe) with all the MBL negotiations.
Otherwise, I agree with the others: you are too lovely! Great fun to get an insight into office life. I look forward to Peter's post!
19 June 2016 - 8:45
Ama de casa says:
Haha! Wonderfully written 🙂
But? Should the marketing department really be allowed to interfere with the editorial work like that? I think you should contact the union...
Haha, no. It will be exciting to see what Peter will put together 🙂 .

Jacob - Everyday Explorers says:
Hahaha you make it sound like you run a big group! But maybe it is good to have such clear roles and division of labour. And having your job sites makes it feel more serious. I know with me that it is easy to get stuck in the wrong things and just spend the days without doing anything when you work from home.

I also like the fact that the marketing department, just like in "real" companies, sits upstairs, while the editorial team has to work downstairs. ASG:-)
It will be fun to see what Peter will write about.

Anna, how nice with a tip!!! It sounds exciting and I will look more carefully! What will you do yourself...?
Steel city Anna, I'm glad you like our wallpaper!
Ina, thank you for your comment! We find it very cosy here in our houseboat! 🙂
Linda, our houseboat is a boat with a hull (not a floating villa) and is located at the inlet. It is visible if you are at the pier, but if you get closer to the E4 motorway it is hidden. Get in touch if you are in the neighbourhood and want to look past! 🙂
