Yesterday we showed some pictures from wedding photography as we did at Peter's niece's wedding. We also have to tell you a bit about the wedding party that followed. This is probably the most well-organised and inventive party we have ever been to. ever. Maybe you can get some ideas if you're planning a wedding or other big party at some point.

Wedding party with surprises
Around 80 guests were invited to the wedding and the bride and groom, Dessi and Lasse, had built a large tent for the dinner and party. There was a 4-course dinner at set tables and of course a lot of speeches and spex.
A toastmaster and a toastmistress (!?) ran the programme, in both English and Swedish. In addition, the bride and groom had organised a variety of fun activities, which might be tips for other wedding parties in the future. Here are some examples:
- Dinner programme that was attached to each envelope, with everything from menus and practical information to humorous rules of order, interesting facts about all the dinner guests (so you knew what to talk to your neighbour about!) and funny quotes about love from children.
- Wedding bingo was also included in the dinner programme, with things that might happen during the evening, such as "you've spoken to the bride's mother" or "someone sheds a tear". As soon as you got two lines together you would shout "bingo".
- Gift box for each guest - The beautiful little box contained things you might want the next day: a headache tablet and some sweets.
- Lottery with 12 prizes - When you won, you had to choose a month, and it said something that you would do with the bride and groom that month. I got one of the prizes, so in April I will make sure to organise a horseback ride with the bride and groom!
- Games for the wedding couple - Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra organised the game where the bride and groom sit with their backs to each other, take off their shoes and then hold one of each shoe. When the game leaders ask questions, such as "Who decides at home?" they lift their own or their partner's shoe without looking at each other. Very entertaining for the guests, both when they give the same and different answers!
The wedding menu
Peter's niece Dessi is not only newly married, but also a fantastic cook. She had composed and (with the help of family and friends) cooked all the food herself. Impressive is only the first name, so to speak. During the evening, there was a good friend who pulled the strings and three hired waiters. Curious about the menu? This is what it looked like:
- appetisers: Cold cucumber soup with Swedish prawns
- Appetiser: Smoked potato soup with rum, roasted onions and truffle oil
- Main course: Grilled beetroot and rosé pepper marinated Norwegian salmon with new potato salad and lemon yoghurt sauce.
- Dessert: Lemon sorbet with fresh Blidö berries
Wedding cake and numerous food services ...
Dinner was accompanied by red or white 'love wine' with labels specially made for the wedding and, of course, the wedding cake was served after dinner, which was the only thing that wasn't homemade. But do you think that was the end of the food service here?
No! The bride and groom served lunch before the ceremony in the church (quionoasalad with chicken), coffee and cake outside the church, bubbly and canapés at the bridge, wake-up call at night (grilled sausages) and breakfast and brunch the next day (sandwiches, scrambled eggs, bacon, pies, pizza slices and God knows what else). Impressive we say again!
Party with an all-night DJ
The wedding dinner took time, of course - there were many dishes, many tearful speeches, film screenings, self-composed songs, Dutch dances (the groom Lasse, despite the Swedish-sounding name, is from Holland), a dance performance by the 13-year-old cousins and well... you name it. The wedding couple performed a choreographed waltz - and then the party started.
At a party like this you have a DJ, of course, and that was Peter's son Robin. He started with waltz, salsa, buggy and pop, before moving on to the music he really loves - heavy house - later in the evening. The party went on until six in the morning!
Nilla says:

What an amazing wedding party. And in that setting. Until six in the morning. But what the heck, once in a lifetime.
Delicious and well-balanced menu. Nice with "locally produced" (Blidö berries) for the dessert.
Great to look forward to riding in April with the wedding couple.

What a wonderful wedding and party! Truly memorable and so well thought out in every detail.
Understand that it is an experience to be involved.
And extra fun with a lot happening during the evening.
However, I hope that it was not the newlyweds who were in charge of breakfast or any responsibility at all during the day, evening and night....
Great pictures!

Nils-Åke, yes, it was impressive with the food?
Ama de casa, haha, I wouldn't try to organise a party like this either. But it was fun to be invited! 🙂
Anette, yes, we were tired the day after... and then we've continued to be tired, haha 😉.
Emma, yes, it can feel both nice and a bit empty when such big things are over.
Åsa in Åsele, haha, yes we almost felt like guests at a royal party 😉.
Marina, I also thought the monthly lottery was a very fun thing!
Lena, yes, it was a lot to hold, for many, in different ways 😉.
Ditte, it was an amazing experience! The bride and groom probably managed to rent out most of it during the party itself. But the next day I saw them doing all sorts of things... 😉.

Since you don't get married every day, you just have to go all out when you do. The wedding party you show is absolutely fantastic and so incredibly well thought out and fun. I wonder how many project managers put their heads together here. But they have certainly succeeded 100 per cent.
PS. Imagining you on a horse - having a bit of trouble with that actually - hahaha;-) DS.

Veiken, the 12-month lottery was a very fun thing! 🙂
Lena, we were really impressed. They got help from family and friends, of course, but they pulled all the strings themselves, and it felt like a wedding organised by professionals 😉.
BP, haha, it's so fun to hear how others imagine you 😉 I rode a lot as a young man and like horses. BUT nowadays I ride extremely rarely, so it will be exciting to get something 🙂.
Matts, we were also a bit speechless 😉 .
Now that's a nice memory! And we have lots of photos 😉 .
Alexandra, we did exactly what you did! We got married in secret at the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam 😉.
