This is where we are travelling this Easter
In fact, we are already travelling before Easter - to Malta on a trip with adventure theme. This Easter, it looks like a little trip to the capital of Estonia. Tallinn. Then, of course, we'll go out and drive the campervan too, but we're not planning anything until it's back home again. Are you travelling anywhere this Easter?
Lennart says:
Nice cities!
We still have Warsaw, it's high on the list.
29 March 2017 - 7:10
Helena says:
Warsaw is an exciting city! Maybe not as beautiful as e.g. Gdansk, but mixed and historically interesting!
29 March 2017 - 13:18
LinizTravel says:
Malta before Easter 😉 Will be fun to see!!!! Then the west coast over Easter and hope for a lovely sunny Easter?! Hugs
29 March 2017 - 8:25
Helena says:
Will be so much fun! 🙂 Hope you get nice on the west coast too!
29 March 2017 - 13:19
LinizTravel says:
By the way great tips!!! I would like to go to Gdansk and Warsaw for a long time since I was there! Riga is wonderful!!!
29 March 2017 - 8:27
Ama de casa says:
I don't think there will be a trip at Easter (but you never know... 😉 ).
During Easter, however, many people travel here. It's like the start of the season when most restaurants and kiosks that have been closed for the winter reopen. However, most of them are open all year round - it's nice that the city doesn't die during the winter.
Then there are many friends who live here who also take the opportunity to come down during Easter, and then it is perhaps stupid to travel away.
29 March 2017 - 8:41
Helena says:
It sounds like it will be nice to be exactly where you are over Easter! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 13:20
Marina says:
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I have a lot of great destinations left!
Here it starts to draw together for packing for real and moving home, but before that we will make a "real relaxing trip" to the Maldives. And considering that, it's probably not too bad for us if we have to stay and clean things during the Easter weekend 😉.
29 March 2017 - 8:42
Helena says:
The Maldives sounds amazing! Is it moving home for good then?
29 March 2017 - 13:21
Marina says:
Yep, now it's time to move to Sweden.
30 March 2017 - 3:32
Alexandra says:
I'm travelling now! I am in Cannes ?
Lottie Knutsson was on Nyhetsmorgon on Monday and gave tips on alternative weekend cities including Tel a viv and Manchester! But we will probably be home at Easter and cycle on our new mountain bikes - maybe we inaugurate the summer cottage for the season, depending on the weather.
29 March 2017 - 8:56
Helena says:
Cannes ... lovely! We liked that city when we were there with the motorhome in 2015! All exclusive boats but also mixed with a "normal" city and cosy alleys. In addition, a good campsite 😉 It sounds like you have nice plans for Easter too!
29 March 2017 - 13:23
Mr Frank Olsen says:
Of these, we have been to Warsaw, Riga, Prague and Budapest.
Janne has also been to Gdansk.
My favourite is probably Warsaw, then Budapest, Riga and finally Prague.
29 March 2017 - 9:24
Helena says:
Nice to hear the order of how you like the cities! A little difficult to rank, I think, because you are affected by so much around. We had e.g. pouring rain in Warsaw, but maybe it was not Warsaw's fault ... 😉.
29 March 2017 - 13:24
Across the board says:
We have celebrated Easter in Prague one year. It was very nice with a lot of street stalls, with fast food and beer. This year it's off to the big city of Borlänge 😀.
29 March 2017 - 10:05
Helena says:
Not bad to get some early spring in Prague! But who knows, Borlänge may not be stupid either! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 13:26
Ditte says:
Nice tips. We have just returned from Krakow which we think was a great destination in every way.
Your suggestions are nice and there is still Warsaw.
But we are travelling to Spain soon so hopefully there will be some travel there in April and May.
Malta is nice and surely Peter can take the opportunity to take a couple of dives as well. Remember that there were nice diving waters there.
29 March 2017 - 10:36
Ladies Abroad says:
I like the fact that I have already visited five out of five. Not surprising, as we both like Eastern Europe. Malta before Easter also sounds familiar! ??
29 March 2017 - 12:46
Helena says:
Well done! But I must admit that I'm not entirely surprised ... 😉 It will be fun to see you during the Malta trip!
29 March 2017 - 13:27
Mr Steve says:
I managed to get to Riga and Budapest. Beautiful.
29 March 2017 - 14:13
Helena says:
Riga and Budapest are great cities!
29 March 2017 - 19:36
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
I've visited Prague and Budapest a couple of times, but we have a lot of Eastern Europe left on the "to-do" list. I've visited Poland a couple of times but haven't managed to get to either Warsaw or Krakow.
We will celebrate Easter at home but the following weekend we will go to Holland in tulip time! Malta sounds wonderful now!
29 March 2017 - 16:19
Helena says:
Holland in tulip time doesn't sound bad! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 19:37
Snows says:
A city break is always nice and so far we have visited Prague and Budapest. Now it will be London but a week before Easter. Malta sounds very nice!
29 March 2017 - 16:25
Helena says:
Fun with London trip! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 19:37
BP says:
We have been to Riga and Gdansk and I can highly recommend those cities.
It will be fun to hear what you think about Tallinn, especially in comparison with Riga.
We are not travelling over Easter, but plan to do so after Easter.
29 March 2017 - 16:37
Helena says:
I've been to Tallinn before, but it was a long time ago. Where are you travelling after Easter?
29 March 2017 - 19:38
Marianne - Glimpses of the world says:
Great tips! I have visited four of the cities, but have not yet been to Warsaw. I considered travelling there at Easter last year, but in the end I chose Gdansk. This year Easter will be spent in Oman, and for the next few months I have so many travel plans that I can't squeeze in a single more trip. I have to work a little too, since I have a full-time job 🙂 .
29 March 2017 - 17:58
Helena says:
Combining travel and work is not easy, I know! Oman sounds super exciting! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 19:39
Matts Torebring says:
Great tips, but after all, it will probably be an almost deserted island, at the far end of the Stockholm Archipelago. Happy Easter!
29 March 2017 - 18:28
Helena says:
An island in the archipelago doesn't sound bad at all! Do you know anyone there or why did you choose this particular island?
29 March 2017 - 19:40
Matts Torebring says:
We land in our daughter's and family's holiday home.

hagfish says:
Here are three more great value trips we made over the recent Easter holidays.
2014: Rome, cheap direct flight, apartment near the colliseum and wonderful weather.
2015: Brussels. Direct flight from Bromma. Unknown city for me then but what a wonderful weekend with EU, beer, atomium and good food.
2016: Madrid, cheap direct flight with norwegian, lots of Easter with long processions. Wonderful guided bike tour in Madrid and train with overnight stay in Toledo. Highly recommended.
2017: At home in Stockholm with "jour" ? In case the second grandchild looks out.
Lovely blog and followed you for a long time. The link to the occupational therapist gave it a new dimension ?
29 March 2017 - 18:31
Helena says:
Thanks for the great tips! We haven't actually been to these cities (apart from passing Brussels on the way to Ghent). But we have seen the Spanish Easter processions in Tarragona, and we agree that this is an experience! And now I get soooo curious, have I recently written that I am an occupational therapist or how did you find out? 🙂
29 March 2017 - 19:43
hagfish says:
It was probably in connection with new and old jobs that you wrote about it a while ago. Always fun to see occupational therapists find new paths with their education ?. I myself continue to collect European capitals, now with an eye on Zagreb that you made me curious about for the upcoming annual Christmas market trip.

Husis blog says:
Really good travel tips but are they too close to Sweden because the owners have not visited any of the cities, unfortunately. I will give this as a tip to the owners and we will see if they discover new cities one day.
At Easter I don't know where to go, the owners just say we go where the sun is... I'll see which part of Sweden it will be.
29 March 2017 - 18:48
Helena says:
That's the best thing about a motorhome, you don't have to plan the details in advance! 🙂
29 March 2017 - 19:44
Denandraresan.com says:
Really like your selection! Eastern Europe is both cheap and interesting for an Easter holiday. Since I have family outside Gdansk, I have celebrated many times there (in Sopot). The Poles are crazy religious so it's interesting to be part of it, bring a basket with eggs and sausages to the church and the priest will sprinkle some blessed water on it.
Last year we were in Rome and we went to the Pope's speech in Vatican City. Very crowded but a thing to do once in a lifetime anyway.
We have summer weather in Prague, it's t-shirt warm and the flowers are already blooming so it's also a good tip for Easter.
30 March 2017 - 14:53
Lena - good for the soul says:
Of these cities, I've only been to Prague and the others are on the wish list so far. Nope, no trip in Easter. I'm taking it easy 🙂

Mr Cristian Freimuth says:
Have been to Gdansk, Riga, and Prague of these three. The best of these was Prague then Riga yes actually Jurmala a bit outside of Riga lovely beach with nice buildings, last Gdansk but it may also be because it was
where I was cheated when I would exchange money. Can also tell you a little about Tallinn has been there twice fantastic lovely city especially the old town there is as much as possible to see and discover if you are interested in history. In the summer we are going to Croatia a long awaited destination, more specifically to Split grateful for good tips on restaurants, sights, beaches, good wine etc. with kind regards
