Yesterday we moved to Hotel Ukraina here in Kiev. Nice with a little change! A little walk with the bags over Independence square in Kiev ... Our new hotel is big and grand, but at the same time it is a bit Eastern European.
Room with a view in Hotel Ukraine
We have got a renovated and really nice room on the 7th floor of the Hotel Ukraina here in Kiev (see the hotel's website herePeter does whine a bit about the builders being clumsy and the water being wrong and so on, but in the end he seems quite happy with our accommodation. We have a big comfy bed, a fridge and an ok bathroom. The view of Independence Square is pretty cool!
You could possibly complain that it is a bit colder than desired. There is always something that is more expensive in different countries. In Ukraine, hotels cost a bit more than what is comparable to other goods and products, but they are quickly made up for by the cheapness of the rest of the prices.
Dinner at Avalon
We have been to an absolutely fantastic restaurant here in Kiev. Avalon is a complex with a lounge bar, restaurant, casino and nightclub. The decor is the most amazing we've ever seen, with rooms that look like greenhouses, gold sofas, toilets with black mirrored walls...
This cannot be described, it must be experienced! Also one of the most delicious things we have ever eaten. The dishes were quite expensive (there was a starter for 1500 SEK), so we chose from the cheapest on the menu. And yet it was absolutely fantastic!
Arena Citi nightclub
Afterwards we went to a nightclub, Arena Citi. There is great music on the dance floor, but the funny thing is that almost all people book a table (!) in the nightclubs. Then they sit there (especially the guys) and drink booze, eat sushi and watch the girls on the dance floor all night...

Yes, it's nice here and we like Kiev! There is both luxury and poverty here, but whether you are rich or poor, you always put on your best clothes... with the result that it becomes a very dressed up and clean city! The standard is often lower than in Sweden, but sometimes it's the other way round... very luxurious! You can't really make sense of it all... but it's also a bit of fun 😉.
