This is the second instalment on New Zealand by motorhome, from our 2006 trip. New Zealand really does have everything for those who like adventure! We tried some adventurous activities in and around Rotorua, on the North Island.
Adventures in Rotorua
In Rotorua, adrenaline seekers can really get their fill, because there's plenty of adventure here. We tried everything from flying in the air using the Free Fall X-treme to rolling down a mountain in a ball called a 'zorb'... We also tried rafting, which is a really cool activity. You can choose different levels of difficulty and we chose a slightly easier descent, which is suitable when you have children with you.
Rotorua is also cool because it's a geothermal area, so you can see it popping and bubbling everywhere, even in people's gardens. You can also see geysers here, just like in Iceland.
Pipiriki and the bridge to nowhere
Bridge to nowhere is the name given to the large bridge built in the middle of the rainforest, but which leads nowhere. Of course, there were once plans for roads and buildings, but that didn't happen. Now you can experience the amazing nature here by paddling the river and then combining it with a small hike.

We have written several parts about our motorhome trip in New Zealand. The trip started in Auckland, where we went horseback riding and visited the Sky Tower. We then visited the volcanic White Island before it was time for adventure in Rotorua ...
We then made our way over to the South Island. We explored Abel Tasman National Park and experienced whale watching in Kaikoura. There was also a quad bike ride, a boat ride in a glacial lake and an opportunity to swim with dolphins.

How cool you are! Great pictures. Love people who just do their thing. Faithful reader these days. If you come to Sicily, promise to give me a ring. Hugs

Hello!
How lovely your pictures look! 🙂
Me and my boyfriend are going to go now in January 2015 and I see here that you wrote that you could stay anywhere for the night with the motorhome. Have heard that you can get a fine if the "police" (or whatever it is) sees you... Is it true or can you safely park the car anywhere?
