One of our Christmas presents for Peter's son Billie was the book "100 Wonders of the World" and last night we looked through it together. The authors have made a subjective selection of wonders, and you can certainly choose differently. But after all, there are 100 beautiful, fascinating and interesting places presented. So far, we (or one of us) have visited 15 of them.
The 15 wonders we visited
So far, we have managed to visit 15 of the 100 wonders, which means we have 85 more to see and experience. It's hard to pick favourites from the ones we've seen, but we can say that the visit to the Sahara was extremely fascinating. Ha Long Bay in Vietnam is also a place that we found almost magical.
- Sahara (Africa)
- Valley of the Kings (Egypt)
- Great Wall of China (China)
- Guilin karst mountains (China)
- Ha Long Bay (Vietnam)
- Tiananmen (China)
- The Forbidden City (China)
- Xian (China)
- Eiffel Tower (France)
- Kremlin and Red Square (Russia)
- Öresund Bridge (Sweden-Denmark)
- Stonehenge (United Kingdom)
- Thingvellir National Park (Iceland)
- Venice (Italy)
- Tongaroro National Park (New Zealand)
Some places that would be exciting to visit
Of the 85 wonders we have left to visit, some are more appealing than others. Here we have listed fifteen places that we dream of visiting.
- Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia)
- Bagan (Burma)
- Angkor (Cambodia)
- Itsukushima Shrine (Japan)
- Cappadocia (Turkey)
- Petra (Jordan)
- Potala Palace (China/Tibet)

- St Peter's Basilica (Italy)

Have you been to any of these places? Can you recommend a visit?

We have that book too. Absolutely wonderful pictures that make you long to see these places in reality. We have only visited about 5 of these places but hope to add a few more in the years to come. If we have our health in mind.

1. Petra, is an absolute must. I shudder with pleasure, just thinking back on it! (will soon be a slideshow on my blog about it) PS Do not forget Wadi Rum if you go to Jordan
2. the Colosseum, interesting and you can feel the history inside. Rather poorly used though (my opinion).
3, St Peter's Church is powerful and beautifully decorated.
4.Teotihuacán (Mexico), just outside Mexico City. Insanely powerful with the moon and sun pyramid + all avenues and small pyramids. Only have scanned photos from there, I think they are on my RG page!
