Germany and Italy are great, but have you ever ventured off the beaten track with your motorhome? Have you taken a different route through Europe? Travelled through Russia or the Baltics? Rolled through North Africa? Shipped the car to Iceland or rented a motorhome in South Africa, Canada or Australia? Or perhaps you have dreams and plans for trips you would like to take...?
Where can you roll your campervan?
Europe and traditional destinations, such as Germany, Spain and Portugal in all honour. But you also need to be able to travel to slightly different destinations with your motorhome. Or maybe fly and then rent a motorhome on site?
For example, we have travelled around New Zealand with a rented motorhome. But where else can you imagine travelling? We'd love to get some ideas and hear your experiences. Let us know!

We usually travel this route 'Napoleon Route' see
http://www.route-napoleon.com/ also google route napoleon you have probably already travelled that stretch but it is one of Europe's finest and most interesting road sections, engine and gearbox in good condition is required, but quite exciting, although many sections are now being rebuilt so sometimes it is a bit "south road tunnel" over the whole thing! More I can not contribute with!
Will write more on your nice blog later!
Right now a bit "messy"!
Have a nice weekend!
Hugs from Peter!

The most adventurous thing we did was driving through Eastern Europe to get to Greece. The children were 2, 3 and 5 years old. The roads were unexpectedly good. We had not booked a hotel but expected to find rooms along the road. In Slovenia we drove until 3am and found no hotel. The panic rose and we drove up to a car park to try to sleep. But that was not possible. So, we kept driving and pulled into a petrol station and asked for a hotel. Someone called someone else and we were taken to a hotel in a small village. It was not completely clean and fresh but it had to do. When we had breakfast in the morning, there were ten men drinking wine next to our breakfast table. I will never forget that...

Yes, we are so new to motorhoming that we haven't had time to do much yet, just a sweep and a short trip to Finland when we picked it up....
But in April we go to Germany - let's see what you like the motorhome accommodation then when you stay a little longer than just a few days. 🙂
But of course the dreams are there! The dreams of going on long journeys, exciting journeys!
But the long journeys when you may be away for a month or so will probably have to wait as our youngest daughter needs some extra help at school and if she takes time off more than I think it was 4 days from school, she is not entitled to the special help then! So you have to puzzle to weekends and holidays. But hopefully, as I said, she will get rid of it eventually and you can start travelling a little further!
But where????? Hmmm good question. There are so many places you would like to go to. Iceland looks nice, Croatia, yes really _anywhere_ where it is reasonably safe then not war countries.

Through Russia and the Baltics would have been an experience. I myself have travelled on the Transylvanian Railway. So I am curious to drive a car in that direction.
Our little washing machine you were wondering about is like a top fed machine. About 7-10 litres of water and max 800gr of laundry.
It runs on 220v and is controlled by a timer. You can preheat the water. Yes, it actually gets clean. Quite simple but practical if you are out for a while.

Well, we spun around in Luxembourg without knowing where we were, just following the GPS that we had set to Trier. The GPS was broken, but we didn't know that at the time. It would always have us on a motorway that was not finished. We were travelling on small, narrow roads that we couldn't meet, but we had no idea where we were. We were lucky and did not meet anyone, it was a beautiful landscape and we arrived in Trier.
But it's kind of fun with these sightseeing trips;)

Peter, thank you so much for the tip about the Napoleon route! Hadn't actually heard about it before, sounds interesting!
Tina, Eastern Europe usually offers a bit more adventure! However, some travelling experiences tend to be more fun afterwards than they were at the time!
😉
Ninni, it will be so exciting to hear about your trip to Germany with Rulla-Bärra! I have travelled around Iceland with a regular car, and it is really a nice and interesting country to travel in!
Jonas, we have also travelled the Trans-Siberian and have thought exactly the same thing! We would also like to travel through Russia. The question is how to stay overnight?
Leena, yes, it does get a little extra exciting when the GPS doesn't work! We've also been there a few times when the GPS is a bit too old and the roads too new...

hello
Yes, we usually stick to the eastern side when we drive down in Europe. Last year we went via Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bosnia and then to Montenegro. Then the journey continued north in Croatia.

The last car holiday I had was last summer in South Africa. The guy and I rented a jeep from the airport and drove around the Kruger Park for 10 days. Absolutely fantastic and really something I can recommend. It is very easy to get around and well organised.

Kersti, we also like Eastern Europe. We were in the Czech Republic last summer. This summer we will be travelling to Hungary, Bosnia, Montenegro and Croatia! Any tips from there?
Helly, South Africa and the Kruger Park is one of our dream holiday destinations. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to experience it!

I think it might be nice to drive through Turkey. Well, first through Europe then, and then into and through Turkey. There are many beautiful things to see there, especially outside the tourist and charter resorts. I'm thinking of the north coast with small towns like Safranbolu, the islands in the Aegean Sea, Cappadocia with its marvellous lunar landscape and fairy chimneys, the salt lakes... So many things.
