An opinion piece has been written about how motorhome drivers are often forgotten when talking about tourism. This is not the first time it has been mentioned, but it clearly needs to be emphasised! When the tourism industry is being developed, the motorhome community is often forgotten.
An affluent group
Why is it that motorhome drivers are forgotten when talking about tourism? It's funny, really, because this is an affluent group that likes to drive around Sweden's cities and spend their money on fine wines, nice dinners in restaurants, fancy gadgets or cultural events.
Error in referring to campsites
And yet many municipalities insist on relegating us to boring campsites far from shops, restaurants, markets and art exhibitions. Honestly ... how smart is that? No, simple car parks in the middle of the city! We just want a patch of tarmac and maybe a small house where we can empty our little "box". Thank you very much!

We fully agree. Last year and as far as I could this year, I studied tourist brochures from all over Sweden and have not yet found any targeted information for motorhome tourists. Borgholm municipality is an exception, for the motorhome fair at Elmia last autumn they had produced an excellent brochure presenting the municipality's parking spaces in the harbours. There are other examples, such as Mönsterås, where we now have a parking space and a number of politicians are pushing the issue further. Soon there will certainly be more. All motorhome owners have an obligation to influence their municipality. Campsites are not an option for us motorhome tourists.

The picture in the post is actually from Mönsterås. Is that the car park you are talking about?

Yes, that's the one we're talking about. We hope to have more sites in Fliseryd and Timmernabben this summer.
