Our tips for travelling with your motorhome
It's finally motorhome season, but where to go? We live in Stockholm and work full-time, so for us it's mostly about finding good destinations for the weekend.
1. trosa
Trosa is a wonderfully sweet and charming town, full of shops, cafés and restaurants. There is also a really good parking space at the small marina.
2. Strängnäs
Another destination that we really like is Strängnäs. There is a nice and well-kept parking space at the guest harbour and you can stroll around the charming little town.
3. Mariefred
In Mariefred there is a nice car park right on the water. We went here and met up with boat friends! Here you can also take the opportunity to see Gripsholm Castle.
4. Gålö sea baths
Located in Haninge, south of Stockholm, Gålö Havsbad is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet weekend with beautiful scenery and coastline.
Motorhome season - Our requests
Now that we've shared some of our top tips, we're wondering if you have any good tips for us? Here are our requests. Please help us with some tips!
- Just far enough from Stockholm (for a weekend)
- A good pitch or campsite
- Maybe a charming town, a cosy restaurant, an interesting sight, a fun event or just beautiful scenery...

Kalmar on the east side or Stenungsund on the west coast perhaps? Why not Österlen?

hello
Well, it's been 11 years since I lived in Stockholm but one place I remember that is very cosy is Söderköping.I don't know where you can stand with the motorhome but it fixes itself most of the time.

I love the archipelago so I would probably go to an archipelago campsite like Waxholm Strand & Camping or similar...

Oh how I would love to kayak around in a motorhome!!!
Seems like such a freedom!!!
IF I were in Sweden and had a motorhome, I would head for Gotland, every time. And then down to Öland. No weekend trip perhaps, a little expensive on the ferry to Gotland, I can believe...But still...ååååå....

If you want to go out in nature, Omberg is a nice place that we have stood on many times. A regular parking, one-way road that goes from Alvastra monastery ruin Storlycke Borghamn a lot to see.

Why not go for the unexpected?
There are several favourite spots in northern Uppland and Gästrikland.
Högbo bruk: leisure area with good restaurant, golf course, village museum and nice walking and canoeing trails.
Axmar pier: An old mill that is now 'just' beautiful and has a brilliant fish restaurant.
Oslättsfors: just beautiful nature, but very beautiful!
Gysinge: but try to take it before the mosquito season! Good cuisine, beautiful mill environment and fun rafting museum, craft shops.
And don't forget the mill towns in northern Uppland on your way there or back!
Have a nice trip!

Isn't Örebro a bit cosy? Now I've mostly only been there in the city centre, but it was nice there with the castle and the immediate surroundings... 🙂.
