This week, Mymlan invites us to blog about book - the one that made the strongest impression and perhaps changed your life or your view of the world. For me, books help me to do just that, to see the world through other people's eyes. Reading about the lives of people in different parts of the world, and during different periods of history, broadens the perspective. In this way, I think you can increase your own understanding of people and events around the world.
Girl in Siberia
At the same time, it's very exciting to go to China, India or Africa ... There are many good stories, but I choose to write about this one. first the book that took me on a journey like this. Girl in Siberia by Esther Hautzig is a young person's book about when Esther, as a 10-year-old Jewish girl, was deported with her family from Vilnius in Lithuania to Siberia.
Still remembering ...
I was maybe 12 years old when I read it, but I can probably recount most of it ... As an adult, I have since visited both Vilnius and Siberia, and read about many other interesting life stories. Do you have a book that has had a particular impact on you?
Veiken says:
Yep, when I was in my early teens I read about Helen Keller and was absolutely fascinated by her. What a woman!...I've reread it as an adult and was just as mesmerised as the teenage Veiken.

Hi Helena! Now it's time to put the "house" in order!
I deleted my blog list in anger some time ago, I had some people who no longer wanted to follow my "immoral" blog!!!
Then all my real friends disappeared too, accidentally of course, so now I've added you and your amazing blog to my new list, so I can comment more often, because I really want to!
Book tips are always nice and it is also interesting to read how others may have experienced what they read!
Both me and my wife (who has the book blog http://www.pockethexorna.blogspot.com ) read a lot!
But my most lasting memory is actually the first book I read and it was one of these Gröna Wahlströms books, Tvillingdetektiverna by Sivar Ahlrud. They solved a lot of different cases and I quickly acquired all of them, in addition, I got a letter contact with one of the authors Sivar Ahlrud was "two authors' names merged", have lost the names, will check!
Otherwise, the book that has meant the most to me recently is a short collection of books by the Dalai Lama on Buddhism, never finished it, because it started with the wise words that "search first within your own cultural religion, when you do not find what you are looking for there, you can search further, including within Budhism!". Wise words! I have long since found everything I am looking for in Norse mythology!
Because surely it is Thor who throws his hammer when we lie there and cosy up in our Viking ships...hm...motorhomes (smiles) when the thunder breaks loose on a sultry and hot summer evening!
And it is indeed Frey who brings us to "life" when the first rays of sunshine reach us on a spring day!
Glad you wrote a line under the Hippos, there on the riverbank we will of course meet our 4-wheel drive future Viking ships...hm..motorhomes!
But in the meantime, we can blog with each other!
Have the best!
All the best to you and yours!
Hugs from Peter!

Fun with book tips! I just wish it was a little easier to get hold of Swedish books.
Sometimes I download audiobooks, it's nice to hear the Swedish language and enjoy the story when you're relaxing on the couch!

Thanks for more interesting book tips!
Katarina, that can be a problem when you're abroad... We've actually thought about a tablet for that very reason, so you can download Swedish books no matter where you are. But so far they are quite expensive. It will probably be cheaper in a few years...
