How good you were at guessing! Of course we went on a motorhome weekend in Gävle! We first looked for a place by the canal that is specially announced for motorhomes, but it was full, so we ended up with a car park in the middle of town instead ... But that went well too!
'City camping' in Gävle
The parking lot in Gävle is centrally located by a river, but there are only two places. No wonder it was full ... Since we planned to "do the city" we wanted to be central, so we had to park in the centre. Here we were perfect, close to everything. And here we prepared our Friday dinner: fish gratin with fresh prawns.
May Day celebrations
As we ate, we could sit and look out at all the Gävle residents who were out celebrating Walpurgis Night, or cruising by in their cars... Then it was time for us to check out the city's nightlife. We first went to "Goya" and then to "Harrys".
A guy we talked to asked what we were doing in Gävle and we said we were here in town with our campervan. "Oh, is that what 08s do when they go camping?" he asked. Yes haha, that's apparently how it is ...
1 May in Gävle
On Saturday I had a headache. And when I have a headache/migraine, I pass out and mostly lie still under an ice bag. Plenty of time for Peter to read his book, in other words ... Meanwhile, the 1 May train thundered past just outside. The shouts rang out and the enthusiasts gave impassioned speeches, even after the rain scared away most of the audience ...
We also took a little trip to the city and checked out the shops, but unfortunately it's the same shops everywhere. What fun it would be if there were different shops in all cities and everything was not just chains! I can't say that I was excessively alert, but "Behind my sunglasses..." Well, you know ...
Ninny says:
Yes, the advantage of a motorhome is that you can go anywhere so to speak and still feel at home as you have a lot of your own with you! Cook when you want, have a coffee when you want, sleep where you want ...
We went to an old campsite that has been closed for many, many years, which the motorhome club here on the island has now rented and has some work on, and fixes and has as a meeting point.
There we celebrated May Day with a lot of new acquaintances and our ugly Rulla-Bärra 🙂 It was nice but the weather was like that.
Gävle, yes it is quite cosy there!

Ninni, yes, a motorhome is very practical! Perfect distance to look in shops or go out in the evening! Now we just want solar cells so we can also charge up some electricity in the car when we stand like this without the possibility of connecting electricity!
No, the weather was not to be trusted everywhere. But you have to have as much fun as you can anyway...

It is now expanded to at least 8 sites with electricity and a service building.
