Today was a full day in Furuviksparken in Gävle. This is a really nice park with wild and domesticated animals, water park, fairground and a whole adventure island. Peter's brother and their neighbours brought eight (!) children to the park. Peter's youngest son Billie (14) came with us.
Wild and domesticated animals in Furuvik Park
There are plenty of both wild and domesticated animals in the country. this park. My favourite was definitely the fine lemurs (soooo cool!) but there are also many other exciting animals such as dwarf silk monkeys, lion tamarins, maras, orangutans and kangaroos. In addition, there are a lot of nice domesticated Nordic animals, such as Gotland russet, Linderödssvin and Swedish lantrasget.
As well as mammals, there are birds, fish and reptiles to look at in Furuvik Park. There is everything from peacocks and flamingos to turtles and various types of snakes. In other words, there is a lot to look at for those who are interested in animals!
Adventure island with activities
There is also an adventure island with many different activities. Among other things, there is a high-altitude course, which was very popular with our group. Almost everyone wanted to go up and climb. Well, not all of us adults maybe, but the children anyway.
When everyone had finished climbing, Billie and the other children threw themselves into the big pool. Peter and I lounged in the grass for a while. Nice to just lie still and not do anything special! Now we will try to recharge for the last three working days before the real holiday starts.
Furuvik Park offers so much
There is a funfair, stages for artists of all kinds, and a roller coaster that goes back and forth and is the only one in Sweden. Next to the pool are three carriages from the Orient Express. These are 19th century originals from the line between Paris and Istanbul. Pretty cool.
Furuviksparken should be experienced in two days to have time for everything, and of course to relax in the cosy environment. Right next door is also Furuvik campsite.

What a great day. Oh how I looked for Freedomtravel during our road trip between the west and east coasts. I saw many motorhomes but not your eminent gem! 🙂

Zoos are fun if they are well run. I took our youngest son to Kolmården many years ago and I must say I was impressed. Especially considering the Zoo in Rome that we had just visited. It was sad to see how the animals were doing there.
Keep up the good work!

Helly, South Africa sounds exciting! Would love to go there on occasion.
Alexandra, yes there are really a lot of motorhomes on the roads now! But no more that looks like Freedom, our husis you recognise when you see it ...
😉
Ingrid, I agree! In some countries you don't even want to go to the zoo. But in Sweden the parks are usually quite nice. Furuvuksparken was really nice, and the animals moved quite freely in large areas.
