Dziwnow, in northeastern Poland, offers a wonderful holiday feeling in the summer. We found it more or less by chance and discovered a real gem with beautiful beaches, swaying palm trees (!) and plenty of restaurants and holiday activities.

Dziwnow in Poland
Dwiwnow is a harbour town and seaside resort, located on a narrow spit of land off the Polish mainland, between the Dziwna Strait and the Baltic Sea.
Dziwnow is located on the Polish Baltic Sea coast, about 43 kilometres east of Swinoujscie, in the north-eastern part of the country.
Our journey from Ystad to Dziwnow
Already when you drive on the ferry in Ystad you feel that you are abroad. The cargo guys asked (in sign language) if it was ok to drive down Freedom in the engine room UNDER the car deck with a lift. As thanks for the help we got a bottle of Martini ...
Once in Swinoujscie, we drove about an hour east along the coast, until we reached a variety of campsites. We stopped at a campsite in Dziwnow, which was next to a big tent where people were eating, dancing and having fun.
Nice beaches in Dziwnow
We had never heard of this place, so we had no expectations. Sometimes it is quite nice. Dziwnow turned out to be a really cosy little holiday resort. There are plenty of restaurants, outdoor cafes, bars and ice cream parlours - as it should be in a holiday resort.
There are also plenty of activities for children, from shops selling bathing toys to carousels and game areas.
Camping Korab
The campsite where we live, Camping Korab, is perfectly located within short walking distance of shops, beach and restaurant. The campsite is fairly simple and consists of a large area of lawn, where you can stand wherever you like.
The service centres may not be anything to brag about, but they work. A good thing is that there are staff around the clock at the campsite, even at night! Not everyone speaks English, but they try and a little waving of the arms and we understand each other. 125 kr/night costs the campsite including electricity.
Evening walk at sunset
In the evening we took a walk in the warm weather. Fantastic heat even in the evening! We first walked past the beach disco where the atmosphere was great, and we walked back. The beach disco was very happy and good, the atmosphere was great and the whole place was dancing or talking to everyone.
We then continued along the beach until it became quiet and we were all alone. The palm trees look great, and you could easily believe that you are in a more exotic place. Right now we love Poland!
More to see and do in the neighbourhood
From Dziwnow it is not far to Swinoujscie, where we have a lot of tips to offer. It's also not too far to the city of Szczecin or to the island Usedom, which is shared between Poland and Germany. If you're heading east instead, you can visit Słowiński National Park or the smaller holiday favourites Łeba and Rewa.

Have always travelled to Poland every year sometimes twice a year. Now covid 19 has made it so that it is no longer attractive, but I hope to start travelling again soon because Poland has many beautiful cities that you can visit and enjoy and the people are very nice.
