What do you do in the evening in a motorhome? If the weather is nice and warm, you can be outside, but if it's cold? During this trip in the north of Sweden, it hasn't been warm, even during the day, so in the evening you can curl up in your campervan ...
What do you do at night in a motorhome?
Well, what do you actually do at night in a motorhome? When you're in a warm country and it's light outside, there's no "problem" to worry about. You're outside all evening, socialising and talking. It's a bit different when you're travelling in a cold country (Sweden!) and actually have to shut yourself in relatively early. Our most common evening pastimes are reading books or playing video games.
Reading books
When Peter and I travel alone in the camper van, we read a lot of books. He reads crime novels and I (Helena) read biographies and memoirs. We can spend whole days reading! My absolute favourite is to read books set in the country where I am travelling.
That way, I think you get a double travel experience in some way. I have actually written a post about book tips for travelling, which is based on this idea. Feel free to check out that post if you like the same kind of travelling experience!
Card and video games
Now we're not alone on the trip, so things are a bit different. On this trip we have two 14-year-old boys with us, and there's not much peace and quiet for reading books. So what do we do in the evenings?
Yes, there have been a lot of card games. And a lot of video games... We have the quiz game Trivial Pursuit (TP) as a video game, and it works very well to play together. There have been many evenings in front of the TV screen!

Then it is lucky when you can get electricity. I recognise this from my grandchildren, when the inverter is not enough. A power station is never wrong.

You seem to experience a lot during your journey up the country, everything looks very nice and pleasant!
I recognise that with games from last year's holiday, this year we have been so lucky that the weather has been great during our 4.5 weeks out on tour that the children have been out until half 11-11 and then plunged into bed. However, they are very much younger than yours and one day we may also take PS...?!
Have a nice trip!

What do you do? Walk around and look around and possibly walk the dog if he is with you, play cards - if little sock is with her who is a card player 🙂.
Reading... sitting with friends and talking goja...
Wow, what a small TV you have in the car!

It was a great TV! Great with these flats, they don't take up much space and can easily be hidden away 🙂 ).
Hope you found the sun up there, here in Umeå it doesn't shine at all anymore. Rain and debris. Feel free to cheer when you are heading south again and we will see if I sneak past with the little one and greet you a little bit 🙂 Would be fun to say hello to you after following you now for x number of months 😀.

Anders and Birgitta, that's exactly how it is! When we're travelling on our own, we do a lot of free camping or stand on simple pitches. Now there are a lot of campsites, because the need for electricity is great... We actually have an electric generator too, so it can be a variant. But you have to stand in the right place, because our generator is quite noisy.
Agneta, yes, we've had some bad weather... and 15-year-olds have a tendency to turn the clock around... But for us it's been really good with games. Parlour games on PlayStation (like TP and Buzz) are also quite fun to play together.
Ninni, yes, we play cards quite a lot too. At first I thought the TV seemed too big, but now I'm probably the one who is most happy about it. I can't see very well at a distance and usually find it hard to keep up with games and films with a small TV. But now it goes well!
😉
Camilla, we have rain here... But ok, then we know that it would not have been better to stay in Umeå! I'll shout when we're heading down again!
