This weekend there was rain and crayfish in Vaxholm. Saturday offered persistent pouring rain. There was no sun and swimming or strolling in town. Instead, we hung out at the campsite all day... We thought it would be pretty boring, but it turned out that we would meet really nice Dutch campsite neighbours!
Rain and nice neighbours
Sometimes it can really rain so incredibly hard, that it doesn't go to go out. How would this camping weekend really be? It turned out to be really good! Despite the stubborn and persistent rain, we made contact with the nice Dutch people in the motorhome next door.
In the picture you can see Peter running over to the Dutch neighbours for a little chat. We had so much to talk about, and after a while there was some wine and even more talking. First in their tent, and then at our place. We had exciting food to offer!
Exotic crayfish in Vaxholm, Sweden
In the evening we invited the Dutch to our motorhome for some crayfish and prawns. They looked suspiciously at the crayfish, but ate kindly and curiously when we instructed ... It was a long and pleasant evening under the awning, while the rain and thunder rumbled outside.
What about the campsite? It seems excellent, but we couldn't see much when it was raining. The service house was at least ok. Apparently there is a nice beach here too. Read more at the campsite's website.

It's so cosy to drive a motorhome in bad weather, well maybe not when you're driving. But sleeping in the motorhome and it's raining on the roof is cosy.
Last night we rolled out with the Bärran cart to calm the dog, cosy and felt safer than at home somehow - or at least more convivial. What a wonderful thunderstorm we had. Maybe you got the same slap with the ladle?! There was lightning and bleaching all at once!!!

This is camping life meeting new people and socialising. What does a little rain do then.

How sad if you have not had the opportunity to be in Vaxholm. Sjövägen is close to us where we live, we have countless times gone there with our boat, always just as nice. We also took the opportunity to eat crayfish yesterday, unfortunately not in the motorhome it would probably have been more cosy. There was a terrible thunderstorm last night, I was really scared for a while. Hope now that it will be a little better weather.

Ninni, isn't it cosy to be in the motorhome when you hear the rain against the roof window? We love sleeping in the motorhome when it rains!
Maggan, mushrooms are not bad either! Where do you go on your autumn holiday?
Nisse, right? It's nice to meet new people and we had a really good weekend, despite the storm.
Anders and Birgitta, yes Vaxholm is nice! We have both been there several times before. We had first thought of going into the city, but it is also a bit boring when it just rains....

As long as it doesn't last weekly, a few rainy days can be very cosy. Sofa and book with a clear conscience ...
