The newspaper Aftonbladet reports that the travel advice in Europe has changed due to the terrorist threat. There is no advice against travelling, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for "increased vigilance and general caution". The greatest risk is said to be in the UK, France, Belgium, Italy and Denmark. The heightened threat appears to be well founded, and Europe is trembling.
Should you hesitate to travel?
Small groups of misfit Islamist men with a penchant for destruction can strike fear into an entire continent, which certainly makes them feel omnipotent. How to counter the trend? Chase them by force across the Pakistani countryside? Avoid stirring up cultural tensions? What is your approach? Are you hesitant about travelling in Europe now?

Do we still like Muslims unlike SD?

PK, for my part, I was talking about Islamist terrorists, not ordinary Muslims... Terrorism has come in many guises and is always nasty. A few years ago, an extreme Japanese sect of Buddhist origin spread sarin gas in the Japanese subway, remember? They were extremists of course, and there is no reason to generalise between these groups and other Buddhists...
By the way, I'm getting a bit tired of comments with racist undertones, from anonymous senders. So far, since we started this blog, I have not deleted a single comment (apart from spam). We want everyone to be able to express their views, and not everyone has to agree with us. However, unbalanced and unreflective attacks on entire groups of people from anonymous senders is not fun. Where is the line between freedom of expression and incitement to hatred? The rest of you who have blogs, what do you think should be done?

I don't think we will be in any major places during our trip through Europe. But I would probably not want to fly. Maybe also best to stick to the smaller roads. But it is certainly worrying that the preparedness is now raised. The uncertainty is probably the worst.

Of course it feels unsettled, or more unsettled... It's probably worst for those who live in big cities, you don't have to go out and travel, but that doesn't mean it's as safe at home either.
Just getting to and from work can certainly be worrying for many people, especially if you use the underground railway system, etc.
Well, what should be done to stop this? Don't know, seems like it's growing,, Sometimes it seems like the more we move across the world the more trouble there is, right? We should be more tolerant, right?

Haha...like your/your way of thinking (about the dietary circle!) 😀 And if we had time and money we would probably have travelled, regardless of terrorist threats!

No, I'm not afraid to travel and will do so in January. However, being as close to Denmark and Germany as I am, it feels a bit more intimidating. We have the Öresund Bridge which is certainly a possible destination ...
Hu, where is everything going?

I haven't thought about it but this Thursday we are going to London,,. should I be afraid??
05 October 2010 - 20:17
admin says:
Ingela, I don't think you should be afraid. There is probably still a much greater risk of being hit by an ordinary car on an ordinary day... And think how much you destroy by walking around being afraid! Then those terrorists have managed to destroy something for you anyway... just by making you afraid!
But sure, maybe I should avoid places with big crowds in the biggest cities... still

It went so well, so well in London. Then you can reason that when there is a "threat" there is extra surveillance so we did not feel or see anything threatening. I think there were a lot of people. It was really nice to come home to the little village. But I want to visit London again, I didn't have time for everything.

Great to hear that the London trip went well! I understand that it is difficult to do everything in London ... and yet it felt like you managed to do as much as possible!
