If there's one group of people we're prejudiced against, it's the gypsies, isn't it? That is why it is particularly interesting to read the book Bury Me Standing. Isabel Fonseca is an American journalist who has lived with gypsies in Eastern Europe and has made a serious attempt to understand their history.
"All my life I have been on my knees"
Where do they come from? Why have they lived a nomadic life? What is it that makes it difficult for "the rest of us" to accept them? Worth reading if you are curious about the world! And the title? It refers to a gypsy man who in a dramatic farewell exclaims "Bury me standing, all my life I have been on my knees".
