It was a trip to Trosa this weekend, and it is actually the first time we are out with the motorhome in real winter weather. It was a nice weekend with walks, reading, good food and a few rounds of Trivial Pursuit on Playstation. If you have a motorhome, how much do you use it in the winter?
Good parking space in Trosa
It's always good to park your motorhome in Trosa: it's a nice spot by the water and close to shops and restaurants. We had to pay 50 SEK for electricity. We were two motorhomes this weekend, and according to the staff at the harbour café, there have been motorhomes here every weekend all winter, even on Christmas Eve and New Year.
Driving a motorhome in winter
The motorhome works great in the winter! There have been no problems getting the heating up, and everything has worked. We didn't manage to drain the waste water though, because the tap is frozen ...

It probably looks a bit rough, of course. But up here in Norrbotten, it's not uncommon for people to have motorhomes on the ski slopes, so it probably works well.
We don't have winter tyres on our motorhome, so we don't take it out until May. This may also be because we have a cottage in the mountains where we often go by car during the winter season.

Lillan, yes the season for a motorhome can really be as long as you want! If you have the opportunity, we can really recommend a motorhome!
Henny, yes, it was a bit rough... outside. But inside the motorhome it was cosy! We got winter tyres when we bought the camper used, but this is actually the first time we use them! If you have a cabin in the mountains, it will of course be cosy and practical! But if you do not have it, the motorhome works really well, we have noticed!

Who said that you can only use a motorhome in the summer? It works perfectly well in the winter too. It is warm and cosy. Don't have one of our own but wish we had it because then we would probably travel and look around much more.

We have our motorhome fully prepared and equipped all the time, but unfortunately there have not been many trips this snowy and cold winter. Only a few day trips, but no overnight stays. Mostly because of the difficulties in getting off the road and finding good places. Some places are not even accessible and some are used as snow dumps.

Every day all winter we live in the motorhome, a little less in the summer when we make weekend or shorter trips.

Nice that you were down in my old home area with the motorhome. Hope it was a good overnight stay! 🙂

Trosa is so nice, at least as a summer town. It is wintry with you but cosy with snow.

Of course you can camp all year round, it's a bit charming, I think.
Trosa is certainly nice even in winter.
We have only slept, I think, which is nice.

When we had Rulla-Bärra we went camping a few times in the winter, mostly just to avoid having to stay in a hotel when the kids wanted to go shopping for Sve.
Åland is so small and I doubt that there is a single campsite that is open this time of year. I think all of Åland is closed ;-)).
Now we changed the car in the middle of winter, and with our Hjulius, we have not been out yet. Thought to check through water tanks, taps, couplings, etc. before we start for the spring and thought to wait for a little warmer so you "dare" to fill water, etc. without the risk of something freezing.
It's probably with the heating on, but as cold as it has been between rounds, we don't want to risk it.
But I could imagine going winter camping every now and then.

We also went camping for the first time this week. But we left the tent at home - we rented a camping cabin. Yeah, I know. Cheating, right?

Lars, it can be difficult to find good sites in the winter! We chose Trosa now because we know it's a good spot and because there is electricity to plug in. But it was still a bit difficult to get a spot for all the snow...
Lena & Jan, yes you really use your motorhome!
Stoffs, so this is your home region? Trosa or nearby?
Ninni, I understand that you want to get to know the new car and how it works. How exciting it must be to go out with it for the first time!
Ama de casa, I fully understand the cheating! Tents right now seem a bit too fast

Trosa has a nice car park. We have only tried it in the summer. We do not have winter tyres and have the car parked until there is bare ground. May it be soon. ha dé!

Trosa is fantastic. There is also a free place without electricity for many motorhomes in front of the bridge. But the harbour is fantastic if you need electricity.
Can also recommend Strängnäs harbour. Wonderful.

Monica, thanks for the comment and tips! We have been in Strängnäs with the motorhome and agree, it is also a really good place to stand!
