If you have winter tyres on your motorhome, it's time to change the tyres. (At least we thought so, but last night it started snowing again...) We got the winter tyres when we bought the motorhome second-hand in autumn 2008. We haven't used them in previous winters, as we have kept the motorhome over the winter months. This year we changed to winter tyres for the first time.
Changing to summer tyres
We have only used the motorhome once during the winter, but it was interesting to try! It was a cosy trip to Trosa in February. But now it's almost time to change back to summer tyres. The law in Sweden requires winter tyres to be used from 1 December to 31 March, but studded tyres can be used from 1 October to 15 April, and even longer if there is winter road conditions.
Motorhome over 3.5 tonnes
If you have a motorhome weighing over 3.5 tonnes, you don't need winter tyres. We have planned to change the tyres this week. Although we were hoping for good road conditions, not snow. Do you have winter tyres on your motorhome? When do you change to summer tyres?

Answer: Haha smart to pull down the blinds. Today the snow is gone! 😀 Yippee!

I leave our winter tyres on until after Easter, just in case there's time for a trip to the mountains... We drive unstudied and so it doesn't really matter, I think.

We also run unduplicated, so they will remain for a while longer, as I understand from my old man who takes care of that part.
The first trip will be this weekend..... it will be nice that the season starts now:)

I guess the date has changed now, 16 April is when the winter wheels come off.

"We use unstudded winter tyres and the last two years have been a bit more difficult. You have to drive carefully and brake in good time.
Regular winters are just fine!!!

We have studded winter tyres and this is necessary when we go to the mountains, as we also pull a trailer with the snowmobiles on it.
We will probably change after Easter because on 28/4 I will inspect the motorhome and on 1 May we go to the High Coast and then we probably do not need studded.

Yes, unfortunately it feels like you should have the studded tyres on for a while longer... Will probably bet on last April instead! 🙂

Matts Torebring, yes, if you also plan to go north, it might be smart!
Leena, isn't it great that the season is starting now? We are also going out for a walk this weekend.
Kölis, thanks for pointing that out! I checked and you are right, I have changed the text.
Helga, yes, we've had some serious winters, to say the least...
The camper van, no, in May you shouldn't have to wear studs anyway! Otherwise it feels like there is something wrong with the climate ...
