The strong krona and the cold winter weather are causing Swedes to travel like never before, according to a survey by Forex Bank. Seven out of ten Swedes will be travelling abroad in 2011, and many are looking for value-for-money destinations.
Affordable in Asia and Eastern Europe
Asia and Eastern Europe are the most affordable, with many countries offering double the value for money. The figures below show the actual price situation in a number of countries according to the X-Change holiday index (Sweden = 100). Here we list the cheapest countries:
Price situation in Asia
Here is a list of countries in Asia with low prices. The Philippines is the cheapest, followed closely by Malaysia and Indonesia.

This was an interesting article, but it's a shame that Colombia wasn't included. It would have been exciting to know what the price situation is really like here compared to Sweden. Maybe I'll do my own research when I go home on holiday this summer.

Annika, Colombia is not included in the holiday index. But some other South American countries, where the index seems to be between 55-70 approximately... Right, you'll have to make your own comparison!
Sara, yes, right now when the krona is strong, you get relatively good value for money throughout Europe. But you get the most in Eastern Europe. In Western and Southern Europe, the index seems to be between 75 and 120 approximately.
