Now it was time for roast venison with baked root vegetables. We tried this after trying to cook deer, elk and wild boar. We cooked the roast in the oven and it was really good together with baked root vegetables, jelly and cream sauce.
This is how we cooked the venison roast
We cooked the venison roast in the oven, until the thermometer showed just over 60 degrees. Along with the venison roast, we served baked root vegetables (potatoes, carrots and parsnips), blackcurrant jelly and a cream sauce flavoured with game stock.
Which game meat is the tastiest?
This turned out really well! But what is our conclusion of the comparison? Well, the deer wins! It was unbeatably good. Read also about when we cooked deer and elk. What is your favourite game meat?
Krister in Beijing says:
I come from a family of hunters, so I grew up eating moose and deer all the time, so for me there is normally nothing special about game.
However, the situation is a bit different now that I live in China, so this picture, as well as your previous food pictures, really makes me miss the food of my childhood. It looks very tasty!

Krister, if you had hunters in the family, I understand that game is common! We have grown up in Skåne or Stockholm, without any hunters in the family... I have only eaten game meat on a few occasions in my life, and never tried to cook it myself until the last few months... I like Chinese food, but understand that you miss certain things when you are away from Sweden for a long time...!

It looks super tasty! I prefer elk fillet, but that was a long time ago.

I've only tasted deer once a long time ago and can't remember what it tasted like, but otherwise I have a clear favourite, and that is boneless deer loin.
