This weekend we drove to Kapellskär, outside Norrtälje. We've set up at Kapellskär's campsite and focused on a quiet weekend with some good food and a good book. Sometimes it is nice to just get out in nature somewhere, without any special plans.
Memories from another time
Being in Kapellskär really brings back memories of another time for me (Helena). When I was a teenager, I used to come here for a theatre camp every summer. For a whole week we stayed in the red hostel in the picture.
There we had intense days of theatre classes and improvisational theatre, and sometimes even dance. In between, of course, there was plenty of mischief. Everything from organised games in the forest to toothpaste on door handles and forbidden love happened out here. So many memories.
Trivial Pursuit
The best thing about going out with the campervan is that you are free from all the stresses of everyday life. After the walk, we played a dramatic game of Trivial Pursuit on Playstation. Then it was time to take out the barbecue and cook the chicken thigh fillets we had brought with us.
By ferry from Kapellskär
For me, Kapellskär is a place where you stay, but for many people Kapellskär is a place where you get on the ferry to continue somewhere else. From here you can go to Åland, among other places, and apparently also to Estonia. But did we continue across the water? No, for us Kapellskär was just a weekend excursion.

We are at Klackskärs Camping in Östhammar and are doing much the same as you. Playing cards, grilling and walking!
But most of all we are settling into the motorhome 🙂

We are also out for the weekend, but wild camping, walking and taking photos. Good food has been served and now a moment at the computer, while we dig some Muddy Waters.

This weekend is all about dogs, not ours but dogs everywhere. Yesterday there was a competition for the daughters rottis and today there is a course in game trails where my sister participates with her dog. BUT on Wednesday we leave for Norway and will be away until Monday then it will be to start picking up and getting the car ready for the holiday that starts in mid-June.
