Skokloster camping (or Sånka camping as it seems to be called on the signs here) is located on Skohalvön in Håbo municipality, not far from Skokloster Castle. The campsite is beautifully situated by the water and has a large area for campers, although at first you hardly notice all the caravans between the trees.
Long distance travellers and motorhomes in transit
Here at Skokloster camping there are many caravans that are probably set up all year round, with awnings, wooden decks, flower beds and garden statues. Some temporary motorhomes, passing through or on a weekend trip, have also found their way here. Despite the cooler air, the weather has been fine today and we have been able to sit out in the sun. We have walked along the beach and just enjoyed the fresh air.
In Skokloster you can experience the beautiful sunset, or perhaps play miniature golf or boule, swim or fish. There is also a nature reserve on the Skoha peninsula and there are plenty of rune stones and other ancient remains. You can read more at the campsite's website.
Evening at Skokloster camping
We had a nice and quiet evening at Skoklosters camping. We made a simple dinner consisting of chicken, potato wedges, salad and feta cheese. With this we enjoyed a good glass of red, looked at the view and had a good time. Sometimes it can be just that simple. After all, that's the idea of a motorhome!
Visiting Skokloster Castle
When you're at Skokloster Camping, you can of course take the opportunity to visit Skokloster Castle, which is nearby. This beautiful castle is the largest private palace ever built in Sweden, and today it serves as a state museum with tours of the parade floor and collections. You can also stroll through the castle park, have a coffee in the castle café, check out the historic Skokloster church or perhaps the ruins of the even older Flasta church.
