In April's Question of the Month, we asked what your next purchase will be for your motorhome. It turned out that many people are planning to buy solar cells. In fact, more than one in four of our readers are planning this particular purchase.
April question of the month
We received a total of 42 responses to the question "What will you buy next for your motorhome?". Just over one in four plan to buy solar panels. A total of 12 per cent plan to buy an air conditioner, and the same number say they will buy "other" or that they are satisfied.
Ten per cent plan to buy outdoor furniture or bicycles and slightly fewer plan to buy an awning or tent (7%), a GPS or alarm (7%) or kitchen gadgets (7%). Five per cent are aiming for a TV or stereo and only two per cent plan to spend on interior decoration.
Getting solar panels for your motorhome
We bought and installed a solar panel last year. Solar cells seem like a practical and environmentally friendly source of energy, but we haven't really noticed much difference since we installed it. For those of you who have solar panels, how do you think it works?
Leena says:
We've always had solar panels and dual house batteries and it has worked very well. I guess it depends on how much power you use when you are stationary.
Now we have a compressor fridge but it hasn't taken more than when we had LPG.
Today only 30 days until our summer trip :)

We have solar panels on the Biggen, but can't say that they make a significant difference to being able to drive the car around.

Hello again,
Saw the category Equipment & Furnishings and wondered a bit... where do you go if you need a new table top, or more likely economically said used... any insight and knowledge to share with us? The amateurs in us forgot the awning crank in the alcove on tour no. II last weekend and suddenly the table top got a 'hollowing out'. Received what we first thought was a funny joke, email response from the Swedish dealer with a price quote for a new table top of almost six cardboard ... (nope, it's not a table with a crystal top nor type Källemo :-D) so one wonders ... what do you do to find a whole original table top....

New Hobbyists, sorry to hear about your table top... You've probably just discovered what we can sometimes swear by too. ALL spare parts for a motorhome are so expensive you'd think they were made of gold. We actually bought a new table (not just the disc though) once for the motorhome, and it cost several thousand dollars, probably four... It hurt! (I promise, we don't have a crystal table either...) I think it can be tricky to find a new table top at a reasonable price. If I were you, I'd post a thread on the Motorhome Club forum and see if anyone has a good idea (or a spare table top...) I'm also wondering if I should write a post about this problem with expensive spare parts, it might be interesting to hear the response...

Oh, it's so bad ... oops. When the smile left the corner of my mouth as I thought the price was a joke, a vague realisation came that it may in reality be so bad... Should be a lucrative market for the scrapyard, demolition to sell spare parts to us needy. Feels so sad because the car is in mint condition (1600 miles) and the table top obviously matches the kitchen counter and home patents kind of lowers the decor.... Doesn't feel generous from the manufacturer versus the automotive system to serve customers so poorly, not wanting to serve the beg.market I mean, not intended at all. To top it all off, the table is not even solid, egg box slats inside so there is a lot of air they want to be paid for 😀.

New Hobbyists, we realised that you might want to ask if you can buy just the table top separately. The price you have been quoted is probably for the whole table, with legs and fixings. When we bought our new table, everything was delivered separately with the top in its own box. So maybe it should be possible?

Hello and good morning,
If only it were so, read the email response both lengthwise and crosswise in case ... but it says "5425: - costs original table top" and the husband called them yesterday to double check, yes it was so. I do not want to know what the complete pedestal table costs, but now you wonder if the price was incl. VAT or maybe not even that :-S....

Have found out that the damage is so small (half 50-ear circumference) that we try to home repair 🙁 with drill holes from the underside, smooth out the cracked chip, fill with perhaps sealing foam. The husband believes in the idea 🙂 Maybe... a more real solution will emerge along the way.
Thank you for your support 😀.

New hobbyists, you understand! It's a bizarre amount of money for such minor damage! But wow, what a nice motorhome!

Thank you, we are so fond of our little one! In daylight http://tinyurl.com/69gqr28 although we don't have leather upholstery but fabric like the still (which is professionally flattering) and don't use the carpets.
We browse your blog every night now and wow at the delights you have made with your Freedom, how fun and stylish! And... contagious 🙂
Bye!

Hello again FreedomTravel,
Yesterday big day - mum got to see and go and has BAPTISED the motorhome to Snobben! Kanon, assumed - she saw the alcove pendant as Snobben's nose / muzzle in profile type and that it is a little snob 🙂
Laugh out loud 😀
Have a great weekend on wheels!
