It's Wednesday night and we're drinking wine. What are we celebrating? Well, today I have been accepted as a PhD student at Karolinska Institutet (where I also work). It's been a long road to get here, so it's worth celebrating!
Public health
If anyone is wondering what I am researching, the topic is public health, and my project concerns a health promotion programme in group homes. People with disabilities have poorer health than others in Sweden, and I'm trying to develop and evaluate a method to promote good health among adults living in group homes and sheltered housing.
More on doctoral studies
Update: Over time, I have written a lot more about being a PhD student and doing a PhD. You can read more here:

Fun! Will there be a big difference for you? Broadening or specialisation compared to before? Wine in the middle of the week seems good!

Thank you so much for all the congratulations!
Leena, I have also worked in psychiatry actually. I see many parallels in the health of both people with mental and intellectual disabilities. Both groups have poorer health, are often not even included in population studies, etc.
Johanna, I don't think the difference will be that big (since I've already been working according to the research plan), but it's hard to know. I have been registered at a different institution than where I work, so the plan is to be employed there at 80 per cent.
