We drove the motorhome from Stockholm to Ystad marina. Peter drove as far as he could, and it was all the way from Stockholm to Ystad. We arrived at around 1am, and then woke up to a bright sunny morning in the marina. Despite all the preparations, the first day of travelling started with a bit of trouble though ...
Trouble while travelling
We are finally on the road on our motorhome journey towards Croatia and Italyand of course it feels fantastic. Unfortunately, the trip started with some problems that we did not expect.
Firstly, the voltage converter wouldn't work, so the guys couldn't play Playstation while we were driving. Secondly, the update disc for the GPS we bought (expensive) seemed to be the wrong model. It worked anyway ... So, how annoyed can you get when technology doesn't work ...?
Berth in Ystad marina
Ystad marina has a caravan park for motorhomes during the summer months. When the boats are lifted in the autumn, the site becomes a boat storage area and can no longer serve as a motorhome site. But at this point in the summer, it's fine!
It should be possible to get power and other services via the harbour office. However, since we arrived in the middle of the night, it was not a good idea to start looking for it ... Read more about the site at Ystad marina website.
The weather in Ystad is fantastic right now and we have enjoyed the sun and warmth during the day here in the marina. We have also seen many people swimming on the beaches.
Ystad - Swinoujscie
We had a nice Saturday morning in Ystad marina before it was time to queue for two hours to board the delayed boat. The ferry to Poland is a smooth way to travel to Europe, although the journey can be a bit slow.
Out on deck, Polish men sit and empty beer crate after beer crate. Inside the dining room you can eat pork knuckles with French fries on a tray ... At half past eight, we finally slipped into the Swinoujscie harbour.

Oh how wonderful to get out and drive a motorhome. For us, it will be small trips in Sweden, and then head towards Italy in the autumn. Have a really good trip, we follow you.

We stayed at Sanskogens camping in Ystad last night and left this morning. Too bad we didn't see each other 😉 .

We drove a day later. Took it easy on Friday and watched Gustav's theatre performance in Södertälje. Calm? Had an extremely stressful Friday at work with prototypes to be delivered before the holidays. Then we get stuck in a car queue from Haga someone has crashed after the Fredhäll tunnel picks up Anneli in Tumba and makes it to Södertälje with a 5 min margin.
Packed on Saturday morning and drove to the cottage in Tylösand. Went well to drive with light traffic. Stopped at Kroatorp at the snake in Huskvarna with good shrimp sandwiches.

Maggan, you will certainly have a wonderful trip to Italy this autumn! Funny that you follow us!
Henny, what a shame we missed each other! I do not know where the campsite is located, but Ystad is not so big ...
Big brother, sounds like a stressful start! Hope you have a quieter holiday soon!
