Finally a new rear view mirror on the motorhome! Last summer, during our European trip, the right rear view mirror broke - no less than twice. One might wonder how that is even possible. Anyway, we have now taken care of it, and now we finally have a new rear view mirror on the motorhome.
First time
The first blow was to the rear-view mirror at Milan's Linate airport. If you've been there by car, you know it's terribly crowded - and everyone has to get there first. Not ideal conditions for a motorhome. Suddenly there was a bang, and the rear view mirror was broken. In this first crash, however, the damage was a little less.
Second time
The second time the rear view mirror was hit was on the Autobahn, on the way home. At one point, traffic was directed along a narrow path between high cones. There was plenty of room for cars and the lorries' mirrors are higher up. Ours was just at the red height to - bang. The cones weren't light, and damaged our rear-view mirror badly. We could only be happy that it was the same rear view mirror that broke again ...
Finally a new rear-view mirror on the motorhome!
Now we have finally got a new rear view mirror on the motorhome. We got help at Kihlströms bilverkstad in Årsta, and we are very pleased with the service we received. We are also pleased to finally have a motorhome with two full rear view mirrors!

Yes, crowded places can be found from time to time.
Fortunately, the husband is used to driving large vehicles so he can find Hjulius almost everywhere. 🙂
It's not fun when rear-view mirrors break, you're kind of dependent on them.

Our mates got their left rear view mirror smashed in a meeting on a 70 road in Portugal, and it wasn't fun............ mirror to mirror........... you become totally helpless........

Yes, we have had to fold in our rear view mirrors several times when the streets were narrow and cars were parked on both sides. Fortunately, nothing has happened...yet.

Ninni, yes the rear view mirrors are really good to have!!! Peter usually knows exactly where he has the car, but in Italy it was a bit hysterical in traffic sometimes....
😉
Ulla, no it doesn't sound fun. The rear view mirrors stick out a lot, and you need them!!! Fortunately, ours was not completely unusable, even though it was broken.
Maggan, yes we have also folded ours sometimes when we parked and so on. Hope we will manage now!

On our previous cars it was possible to fold in the rear-view mirrors and we have had to do that sometimes. On the motorhome we have now, it doesn't work. So on a few occasions I've lowered the window and put my hand between them. If it works, the bypass works. If it hurts, we back up.... But sometimes your heart is in your throat. //Anette

GAAAH!!! So it's not just narrow alleys you have to watch out for? Write down "airports" and "roadworks" on the list too. Our motorhome is getting further and further away, I feel ...
😉
Fortunately, it was "only" the rear-view mirror that was hit.

Cross & Cross, ours can actually be folded, so we should perhaps have done that more often... although you need them just when you're driving....
Ama de casa, the worst part is that it wasn't just the rear view mirrors... the roof racks got an even worse beating... but I don't dare tell you that....

Uff, how did it go with the roof rack and the alcove, they did not get a push with isomras ... poor Freedom get through all the sharp elbows on the roads! 🙂

Snobben & Co, well it was all sorts of things that took a beating on the roads this summer... A new ladder and part of the roof railing has been ordered from Adria in Slovenia and is on its way here....
