We have long wanted a new larger roof hatch in the motorhome, to get more light into the car. Now Peter has taken the matter in hand and fixed a new hatch. He ordered a new larger roof hatch and installed it himself in the motorhome. And there was always more light coming in!
Replacing a campervan roof hatch
Now it was time for us to change the roof hatch in the motorhome! The new roof hatch we ordered is called Heki 2 De Luxe, has recessed lights on the short sides and is 96 x 65.5 cm. Peter took out the old roof hatch and sawed a larger opening in the roof of the motorhome.
For sawing, he used a jigsaw with metal blades, and he had to be a bit careful not to damage any electrical cables in the roof. Once we had a new large opening, it was simply time to put in the new skylight. While Peter was doing all this, it became quite messy to say the least, but in the end it was nice!
New larger roof hatch
We now have a new larger roof hatch in the motorhome. The new roof hatch is in the centre of the motorhome, right where you enter and almost directly above the dining table. This means that we get a lot more light in the part of the car where we usually are. Great! There are also recessed lights in the roof hatch, which can be useful sometimes. We are super satisfied. Isn't it nice, or what do you think?

Inger and Ingemar, glad you like it!
Deciree, yes, we have long wanted a bigger hatch! Right now, in the darkness of November, there's not much sun... but it will probably come
😉
Anders, glad you like our site! Thank you very much!
Annika, Peter probably had to do some work... but in the end it turned out well!
Lena & Jan, really sounds like a lovely sight!

Lovely with large skylights (we have) so you can study the starry sky too! A couple of evenings ago, we saw a bunch of migratory birds that were illuminated from below by the campsite's street lights, fly over the bedroom roof hatch, nice ;-)))

nice it turned out, and how good that you can do it yourself. I was always against such things being fixed in Biggen, thought the risk of destroying something instead was so great.
