According to a new survey, 55% of Swedes would consider going on a camping holiday. In the 18-34 age group, as many as 77 per cent want to go camping. The advantage of a camping holiday is that you get close to nature, that it is cheap and that you can be spontaneous. But it has to be comfortable!
Silk sheets and champagne
A total of 41% want to eat in a restaurant and 23% want to sleep on an air mattress with silk sheets. However, Stockholmers want the most luxury: 20% want to bring champagne and an ice bucket, compared to 10% of the rest of the population.

We went camping a number of times in southern Europe when our children were young and they were great holidays - although without champagne and silk sheets!

City camping seems really exciting, but can you stand like that on a street anyway? Like a normal car?
I would no longer want to go camping, but I have great memories from different camping experiences during my life! 🙂

Marina, I'm sure you had excellent holidays, even without silk sheets and champagne...!
😉
Inga Magnusson, good question! Our understanding is as follows: You can park your car (or motorhome) anywhere as long as you follow the parking rules and regulations. In other words, you have to stand inside the parking space and you have to pay any parking fees. There is no difference between motorhomes and cars (most motorhomes are also registered as cars, so in the legal sense they are cars).
It is certainly not possible to "camp" anywhere, but there are rarely any rules against sleeping in the car. So the question is where to draw the line between "sleeping in the car" and "camping". In many discussions we have seen, it is claimed that you are camping if you unfold the awning, take your outdoor furniture outside the caravan, etc. The latter is therefore not recommended if you are in the city ...
We've encountered a lot of zealous car park attendants, but they always just want to make sure we're inside the car park (which is why these on-street car parks, without white lines, are preferable!)

No, tents are not for us. I have done it in "my green youth" but the memory is that it mostly rained and everything was wet 😉 Motorhome is more comfortable - or we have been spoilt.

Every time is different. My tenting days are long gone. Now I want to be comfortable in my motorhome. We have started planning for the summer. Bye!

Yes, a little luxury is necessary even if you're camping.

Criss-cross, there is certainly a charm to tents. But you get spoilt with the comforts of a motorhome... and when you see tents bathing in the rain, you don't want to change...
😉
Elisabeth, great plans for the summer!
🙂
Anders and Birgitta, yes, it's never wrong to add a little luxury to your life! Even if I never before associated champagne with tents...

Ama de casa says:
I love camping! But I imagine that the statistics are slightly lower for people over 50 than for 18-34 year olds.
😉
But this year it seems to be more like hotel camping...
😀
