Now we have found a nice campsite on the Hel peninsula in Jastarnia, about halfway along the Hel peninsula on the Polish coast. Camping Maszoperia is like many other campsites here, on the inside of the peninsula. There are long beautiful sandy beaches and plenty of kite surfers.

From Sweden to Hel in Poland
We started our journey to Poland by taking the Polferries M/F Scandinavia from Nynäshamn towards Gdansk. Robin and Alexandra met friends in the ferry queue, so it was a nice evening with them. At one o'clock the next afternoon we could roll off in Poland.
After replenishing our food supplies, we drove straight to the headland of Hel (check the map!). Hel is a long narrow headland with 4 miles of sandy beach on both sides). Here we have now entered our motorhome among lots of other campers.
Large nice campsite on the peninsula Hel
Camping Maszoperia is a large campsite with space for many motorhomes and caravans. There are mostly caravans here, which may be because many Poles have caravans themselves. There are large and good service buildings, a small restaurant that is really nice and a shop where you can find some simple groceries.
There are mostly Poles here at the campsite, although we also heard some Germans. There are many families with children, but also many young people. For families with children there is a nice sandy beach and many of the young people are here to kite surf, which is almost excessively popular here.
Kite surfing at Camping Maszoperia
Kite-surfing is really popular here! Everywhere you look you can see the colourful sails filling the air. There are children, teenagers and adults surfing, and there are plenty of surf schools. The wind is good here and the water is shallow, so it's a perfect place to learn to surf.
Long sandy beaches
Leaving the campsite, a short walk takes you to the beach on the outer side of the headland. Simply cross the road and take a short walk through the forest on the other side. The forest is intensely green, and after only a few minutes it opens up to the beach on the other side.
This sandy beach is magically beautiful and it's easy to think you're somewhere else. completely elsewhere in the world. With the possible exception of the weather. If it's really hot in summer, it's perfect for sunbathing and swimming. On the other hand, if it's a bit cool or windy, sunbathing and swimming on the inside of the headland is warmer and more peaceful.
Cosy up in the camper van
We have had both rain and sun, and for a while the rain was pouring down. Then it is cosy to huddle inside a dry and comfortable motorhome. There were, among other things, some games ...
