Today we are going to tell you about another great fish restaurant here in Reykjavik, the Fish Company. Yesterday we visited Fish Company, another restaurant with fantastic fresh fish and exciting flavour combinations. Again, we chose a tasting menu, which we didn't regret.
Fish Company
Fish Company, or Fiskfélagið as the restaurant is called in Icelandic, is located in an old building in the centre of the city Reykjavik. We were shown down into a cool renovated and really cosy basement, where we then spent some of the evening hours.
As the name suggests, the restaurant's focus is on seafood, but it also serves lamb and other dishes. The best part is that you can order different menus where the dishes take you around the world or around Iceland.
7-course menu
We chose the "Around the world" tasting menu, which meant that we had seven dishes that took us on a journey around the world. All the dishes were made with Icelandic ingredients, but with inspiration from around the world. The main courses consisted of whale meat (Australia), fried rock cod/rock sole (Westman Islands), grilled tuna with pineapple salad, vanilla sauce and soya glaze (Tahiti), cod with fried crab (Bali) and BBQ grilled beef and pork (USA). Finally, we were served two fantastic desserts.
If you don't want to order a whole menu, you can of course also order separate dishes, but we highly recommend making a food journey at this restaurant. This was not just a meal, but a whole experience!
