Resia presents the Travel Barometer: How Swedes are travelling in 2012/2013. Swedes want to celebrate Christmas at home, New Year in New York and Valentine's Day in Paris. Five trends are presented.
Five travel trends
The following five travel trends are presented in the Travel Barometer:
- Long journeys are increasing - Increasing destinations are Mexico, Dominican Republic, USA, Gambia, Kenya and Aruba.
- More people seek alternatives to the Canary Islands and Thailand - Including Mexico, Cape Verde and the Dominican Republic.
- January and February are new holiday months - More people are splitting their holidays during the year, and July holidays are decreasing.
- Berlin the hottest city - Interest in weekend holidays is increasing, especially London, New York and Barcelona, and this year's rocket Berlin
- Increased interest in spas - Interest in spas is increasing both in Sweden and on charter holidays, Selma Spa is top of the list.

It must also mean that people have more money to spend, because it can't be that cheap to go to Mexico, Cape Verde and the Dominican Republic, or am I "sailing"?

Maggan and Ingemar, no, but of course you are right and not everyone has the opportunity to go that far. But considering how many Swedes go to Thailand every year, one can perhaps imagine that some of them have dared to change their destination...?

I can only agree. When you read about travel and search for yourself, it goes in the direction mentioned above.
Was in Berlin just a few weeks ago and I really came to love that city. Great that one of my best friends is now moving there in December!

Ellinor, we've been wanting to go to Berlin too! But we haven't been there... yet.
Sara, yes, this year we have also done that and spread out the holiday. For example, we went to Iceland for a week in September - nice to have some holiday left when autumn comes!
