Exotic in the freezer, what do you think about it? We have previously shown some signs about exotic meat at Kötthallen in Sundbyberg. When you go into the store, you'll find even more meat from exotic animals in the freezer section. What do you think about this? Have you tasted any of it, and if so, what did you think?
Camel or zebra?
We have tasted crocodile in Kenya and I have eaten springbok stew at the Zanzibarwhich was very tasty. But python, camel, zebra and llama are completely untested for us. It is interesting that these are available in the shops here in Sweden. But how do you prepare the raw materials so that it will be good? Anyone who knows or who has tried?
Anna in Qatar says:
No file markings on the python... When we were in Vietnam they would chop up snakes, squeeze the blood into a shot glass and ask us to drink it straight away. Fresh and tasty... No, I don't know if it was, I didn't dare...

Would certainly eat any of the above if I were in a country where these meat dishes were served as "everyday food" But buying this here at home feels wrong somehow...hmm.... Then I should think the same about shushi, but I don't .... hmm ... so I'm not consistent in my opinion. Regardless, it is very good with seafood 🙂

Have seen it at Maxi, also in the freezers. But I'm too chicken to try it. I'd rather have it as we know what it tastes like. 3 M

Now I have another place to visit in my home region. I've never been to Sumpans Kötthallm but it will happen.
Then I'm not sure I'm buying anything....
But abroad I have tried various "not so Swedish goods"; crocodile, camel meat, yak (in Tibet) and some insects at the Night Market in Beijing. But that was mostly for the sake of it.

Anna in Qatar, huh... no, I don't know if I would have dared either....
😉
In a way, I can probably feel like you do. I think it's great fun to try different meat abroad, but it feels a bit strange to do it here.
Seniors Speculate, I'm probably not too cowardly if I were to be invited or so... but the question is also whether you want to spend so much money when you don't really know what you'll get....
Fantasy Dining, yes I also prefer to try it when it is served abroad.
Ditte, yes, it's fun to try when you get the chance! Kötthallen is a regular grocery store, but with very large and nice meat counters. And of course they also have regular meat, Swedish game, sausages, etc. in their meat counters.

Marina says:
Nope - I haven't tasted any of it! I could very well imagine trying it if it was on the menu in one of the countries where it is usually cooked, not in Sweden, and certainly not if I were to cook it myself!

Marina, I probably feel a bit like that too... I like to try it abroad, but it may not end up in the pot at home...

Well, I've tried crocodile once at a festival and it was okay, but I would never buy the meat and cook it at home.
