How did we get a motorhome? We read a post on the blog Seniors Speculate about when they got a motorhome, and were inspired to tell our story. Neither of us have had a motorhome or caravan before and neither of us grew up camping. So how did we end up getting a motorhome?
Table of contents
First time we tested a motorhome
We got our first experience with a campervan when we went on an adventure trip to New Zealand winter 2006-2007. We brought along Peter's two sons, Robin and Billie, and decided that the best way to travel around was by camper van. That way we had accommodation, could cook our own food and get around to various adventures such as rafting and horse riding.
Got his own motorhome
And we got stuck! In autumn 2008 we took action and bought a used Adria Coral sp from 2007 on Blocket. Suddenly we had our own motorhome!
One of the first trips was to Trosa. Trosa is a nice and cosy town, but oh how much we had to learn about caravanning! Most things went wrong: we had a water leak, the plugs broke, I got a migraine... But we were very happy with our decision to get a motorhome!
Motorhome with its own design
Then we started thinking about why all motorhomes have to be white? Peter drew lots of sketches before deciding what he wanted our motorhome to look like. BrandFactory did the foiling and the motorhome was given its current name 'Freedom'.
Many trips with the motorhome
And what fun we have had with Freedom over the years: three long journeys in the Europe (Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy), two weekend trips in the North (Copenhagen and Oslo), a tour of northern Sweden and lots of short trips in the UK. Sweden.

It's fun to have a motorhome and it gives you a lot of freedom.
Maybe it will be time for us to rent one eventually....

We were delighted that you joined us to tell us about how you became a motorhome. It is fun to hear how others got into this "track" too. We are starting to get quite a few "bitten" nowadays. It is also instructive to read other motorhome bloggers' posts about this and that. We get a lot of good tips both in terms of interior design, tricks and tricks and of course about parking spaces and travel destinations. We think it's so much fun. Imagine that you dared to try the first time in New Zealand, we think it was cool. Thanks for your story, it was really fun! 3 M

Fun to read!
Motorhome life is fantastic!
Without a motorhome, we would not have experienced a fraction of what we have seen in recent years!
Live well!

Our journey has started with a caravan in the 80's for a number of years, since
there was a hiatus for many years until 2005 when we joined.
our first motorhome, a Knaus 580 alcove model !!!
It was wonderful to feel the camping life again,we had then
gone and looked at some motorhomes before we made our move!!!
We liked it so we went for a slightly bigger and newer one.
after it as we felt we were stuck in motorhome life.
It became a TEC 630 Alkov model again because we liked that model with the sleeping beds on top of the cabin then !!!!
We really liked the camping life, being able to just head off on our own.
where we wanted to go and discover new places in Sweden in spring, summer and autumn.
We only run during those seasons because during the winter it stops.
In the autumn of 2010 we were at a fair at Kurts and looked at some new cars and there it was done, we then stuck to our Matrix !!!!
A contract was signed for delivery in the spring of 2011 in March and
it was an absolutely wonderful feeling to pick up our brand new
Adria and roll home, happiness was total !!!!
It has worked perfectly for us and we hope it will do so for many more years, we are hooked on the motorhome life !!!!
It has given us so much joy that it is not true, and a lot of friends that we have also made through the blog!!!
Soon we will be entering our 9th season with Motorhome and we can't wait to take our car home again after the winter break!!!!
Enjoy yourselves and we hope for another great season with lots of
Wonderful trips and meetings with both old and new friends !!!
Take care/Kram Rolle and Carina.

Isn't it great to have a motorhome? It is the best thing we have done. I have also written about our 3 motorhomes we have owned. Not a story about how and why we bought a motorhome. In that case I would have started with...here is our caravan;.) and they have been many over the years. But the last caravan we had was a Kabe Ametist -2006. Then came our first husbiel..it also a Kabe -2006. But it's probably as they say that the 3rd time's the charm:-)) We'll see if it's true, because we really enjoy our Knaus sky i. Nice weekend

Ditte, why not? Motorhome life is great!
🙂
Seniors Speculate, well when we read your post we started thinking about how it started for us. And without the New Zealand trip, there probably wouldn't have been a motorhome!
Lennart, sure you experience a lot and get to places you would never have got to otherwise!
Rolle and Carina, oh thank you for your story! You have managed to get through your bunch of caravans and motorhomes! And of course, motorhome life is wonderful! We are also looking forward to the spring season!
Deciree, we are still on our first motorhome, but it feels hard to replace now... Glad you are enjoying your Knaus! Have a nice weekend!

Nice to read about how you ended up with a motorhome!
Can believe that you can really get it in your blood, as you have.
The fact that it really means freedom to get away with everything under one roof.
Pretty perfect!

Nice to read how it turned out... nice, styled Freedom - not like any other motorhome 🙂.
Isn't it a real sense of freedom to be able to go wherever you want, to be able to stop whenever you want... a perfect way of travelling 🙂 ?
Have fun!
