Yesterday we had our summer break with work - in Kaknästornet. Kaknästornet is located on Gärdet in Stockholm and is the centre of Teracom's radio and TV traffic in Sweden. Opened in 1967, the tower is 155 metres high (170 including the mast) and has 34 floors.
Fantastic views
At the top of the tower there is a restaurant, café and sky bar. Both from the restaurant, and from the vantage points, you have a fantastic view of Stockholm in all directions. We got good food too! For me, the menu was Toast Skagen with roe, venison fillet with potato cake and blood orange sorbet with berries. Really good!
Respelion says:
Kaknästornet is one of those typical cultural artefacts that has always been there and should have been up there. But for some reason it never happened, probably because it has always been there and thus has no news value. There are certainly many sights that are missed for that reason.

From up there it is very nice. It's been a few years since I was there, but I remember finding a beer labelled Lundgren - my surname. I have not seen that before or since. Have a good summer Elisabeth

Respelion, absolutely agree! I think you miss a lot in your hometown because it's always been there and it's not news at the moment...
Elisabeth, what fun! I saw that they had some different beers, but I don't remember which ones.

Drool, drool! Oh, and I've just had a paltry coma-inducing lunch at Cliff Barnes;-)
We had Christmas dinner with my work there last winter. Exquisite quality and what a view!
Like the photo in my favourite angle!

I think I'll have to visit Kaknästornet next time I'm home. Maybe have a drink in their sky bar.
Understand that it was lovely to sit there and eat.

Sounds like a nice evening! Can sometimes miss this "closing" in these closing times.
Saw the Kaknästornet tower from a distance today when I walked to Rosendal. And it looks the same as it did all the time. Definitely one of the city's landmarks. And a great view, if it's clear.
Worth a visit! If for no other reason than to see the view.

BP, yes it was good! I have not been to Cliff Barnes actually...
Ditte, Rosendal is also nice! It was also a place we talked about going to, but I do not know if they only had a cake buffet or if it was full.
