If you have your own motorhome, you know exactly what a motorhome kitchen looks like and how everything works. This post is more for those who have barely been inside a motorhome. Sometimes we get questions about how it really works. Of course, it can look a little different in different motorhomes, but often it looks similar to ours. So here's a description of our motorhome kitchen. What is missing? Well, nothing really ...
Table of contents
Fridge and freezer
A motorhome is almost always equipped with a fridge and freezer, of varying sizes. We have a larger fridge and a smaller freezer. You might think that you can't fit much in there, but we're good at keeping the fridge full ... You can also put potatoes, root vegetables and other things in a pantry, at least if the temperature in the motorhome is OK.
On our fridge there is a knob to select the energy source: 220 volts (if you have connected electricity from the power pole), 12 volts (if you want to use energy from the car battery) or LPG (if you want to use energy from the LPG tube).
Eat
Motorhomes can be equipped with larger or smaller stoves. We have a three-plate gas cooker. The stove works just like gas stoves usually do. I like the gas stove because the plates get hot right away, and cold as soon as you switch it off. Above the hob we have a cooker hood, which of course is good for getting rid of cooking fumes.
Oven
Modern motorhomes are often not equipped with an oven as standard, but it is often an option for those who want it. Our motorhome was equipped with an oven from the start, and we use it a lot. Our oven is fuelled by LPG.
The food is just as good as in a regular oven, but it takes longer. For example, we usually make jacket potatoes, potato gratin and fish gratin here. We also use the oven to heat bake-off bread so that we have fresh bread in the morning.
If you don't have an oven in your campervan, you can opt for an 'omnia' oven, which you use on the hob. We've never tried it, but we've heard a lot of people are happy with it. Some people also choose to have a microwave. That's fine, of course, but you have to remember that a microwave requires electricity.
grill
Last but not least, you can take a barbecue with you as a complement. We have a small charcoal grill, which we like. A gas grill can also be useful, especially since charcoal grills are sometimes forbidden.
Increase the cosiness factor in the motorhome kitchen!
Update: Since we wrote this post, we have opened an online shop, where you can find a lot of products for the RV kitchen. Check out our campervan-themed tea towels, potholders, dishcloths and trivets! Where to find the shop.

Of course it's just like home, wonderful !!!
What we lack in our Matrix is a fan as standard.
Poor in such a new and expensive motorhome that Adria does not put the
this one from the beginning from the factory !!!!
But we have an openable window in front of the fireplace.
so we usually have it open when we cook !!!
Enjoy the weekend......Kram

Rolle and Carina, isn't there a fan as standard in the matrix? How funny, it is in our Adria from 2007...!

Significantly more space than in our boat and more comfort on the kitchen side. Then the height....I assume you have full standing height and I only have full standing height at the galley. But I've learnt it now... Nice to see your kitchen.

Ditte, yes, motorhomes are often quite large compared to boats. We probably have almost unusually high ceilings too because we have an alcove car (the overhang at the front). But you can usually stand upright iofs. But a boat is cosy in its own way - a bit difficult to compare!

BP, haha... it's true! Maybe that's what is meant by living a more simple camping life...?

I also really like our campervan kitchen and even more our kitchen tent we cook in when wintering in Spain.

Hey, hey, hey! This is great! You have such a lovely cosy car.
Our old one will have to do for a while longer. Should pimp it a bit 😉
I sometimes miss a fan in the motorhome, but we have a ceiling fan almost directly above, so I usually run it when I cook a lot.

Cosy motorhome kitchen. I think it is very reminiscent of the caravan kitchens in the caravans I have been in. But yours was more well planned....

Lena & Jan, kitchen tent, what does it look like? Sounds nice!
Ninni, yes we like our car and think it is cosy and practical! So far it feels fairly modern too, even though it is getting a few years old (2007).
Ma, modern caravans are super nice inside! They're often bigger inside than motorhomes too, because they don't have to accommodate a car as well...
