Now you probably want to see some pictures of the houseboat we have bought? The contract has been signed and we will take possession on 1 August. Here we show the agent's photos of the houseboat.
Pampas marina
The houseboat is located in Pampas Marina in Solna, together with about 45 other houseboats and AquaVillas. When you have a houseboat and a berth in the marina, you get a permanent address here. All houseboats have municipal water and sewage, are entitled to a parking space and have shared washing machines.
Houseboat in need of renovation
The houseboat is 16.5 metres long and has no engine, as it has been removed. The boat is from the 30's and has been renovated numerous times. The kitchen and bathroom are in good condition, and there is heating in the floor on the lower level.
The main "problem" is that it is largely uninsulated for the winter and that there are 1-glass and 2-glass windows. We plan to enjoy it for a short time in August and then take it up to insulate and rebuild some parts. During that time we intend to live in the motorhome....
Lennart says:
I say again, HAPPY!
It's great to have a motorhome in many situations!
Live well

Wow, what a surprise! A houseboat! And you really plan to live mobile in the future, in a boat or a car? It looks really nice inside the boat. Congratulations!

Henny says:
Wow, I could not imagine that it was so "house-like" inside the boat. It will be exciting to see what you can do even better with this type of accommodation.
Good luck to you

Wow it looks really nice! House bat has always attracted me and how nice it was inside!!!

BP says:
Yes, I really wanted to. The houseboat is great! So big and nice! Also, you have a restaurant on the doorstep. Perfect!
Peter knows about construction, so the insulation for the winter shouldn't be a big problem.
What's more, the boat is practically furnished, so you hardly need to bring any furniture either.
Congratulations on that gem!

Lennart, the motorhome feels like a fantastic complement now that we are going to live in a houseboat! From time to time you have to take the boat up to maintain the hull, for example, and that's when you can't live in it.
Inga M, yes we will live in the houseboat! The motorhome will be for travelling, as well as temporary accommodation when we are renovating the boat. i will not have any other accommodation.
Henny, yes we also think it is nice inside! So it is mainly insulation and perhaps some remodelling in the front part we are thinking of. Some new stairs etc.
BP, yes Peter can build so it should go well! But he has a lot of plans on what to do again, so it will be a lot of work! We don't have a lot of time either (the time they had room to take up the houseboat in the marina). The furniture is the current owner's and he will bring some, but he leaves everything he doesn't want. So we will probably get to keep the sofa etc., which is good because it is assembled on site!
Rolle and Carina, yes it is very nice at the restaurant! It may not be quite the same in winter, but it can probably be cosy then too. In any case, they have a lot of lunch guests from workplaces nearby, so there are probably people there then too!

Nice to see pictures of the interior of the houseboat, a cosy environment where you will surely thrive. It is probably wise to review the insulation, 1-glass windows are probably not good for the winter in this "damp" environment. Good luck! Love, 3M

Great to see pictures of your new home. It looks great, but I think, as in all boating; with or without a motor, it is good to be handy......And you know how to renovate and improve.
We have many similar houseboats on our quayside and it gives a wonderful atmosphere.
Good luck with everything!
And falling asleep to the sound of the waves is not bad at all!

SO delicious!!! I'll wave to you in September! Or no, I will probably come down and check out the houseboat! Like to hike in the Pampas.
That seafood restaurant is really, really good. Sometimes called Sthlms Key West :))
I think your houseboat looks so nice. Lovely to live on one. How much does it swing on such a boat? Do you feel it a lot?

3M, we may have to do something to be able to live there in the winter. Step 1 is to apply for planning permission, so we hope it doesn't take too long!
Ninni, it would be great if you stop by! We may take it up for a month and a half to rebuild, but otherwise you are welcome to stop by!
Ditte, I also think you have to be handy! I would never have dared to make this purchase without a handy man...
😉
Annika, feel free to come and visit! (Just in September it may be that we have it up for rebuilding, however, if we can get a building permit until then).
Frankie & Co, well, Peter has to keep his construction truck to be able to work... We don't know how to solve the other car park, but somehow it will work. Of course, you can come and visit us when you can!

Exciting project and will be fun to follow on the blog!
Last summer we had lunch there, with our friend from Singapore Magnus. He comes from Solna, so the choice was easy where to have lunch. Fantastic houseboats there and a really exciting choice of accommodation.

Matts, it's a motto that suits us perfectly!
Anneli, yes, it does sway a bit... at least when it's windy! The other day when we were passing by it was quite windy and then we saw the kitchen lamp swinging back and forth....
😉
Annelie, we've seen houseboats before and thought they looked fascinating, but didn't think we'd have the opportunity. They are not for sale very often, and most of them are also larger and much more expensive than the one we found.

Congratulations on the houseboat, it must be really nice to live like that. You can't get any closer to the water.
I have a friend who lives on his sailboat all year round and he wouldn't consider changing his accommodation.
