Today we strolled around Borgholm, which is a cosy summer town. There are small charming houses, a small shopping street where the clothes shops are close together and plenty of outdoor cafes and ice cream parlours. Yes, and a nice little harbour of course.
A lovely summer town
We have to say that Borgholm is a really lovely summer town! The heat is intense right now and the city is filled with summer-dressed people strolling around and sitting on outdoor terraces. We ate a halloumi salad at Borgholm's kitchen and bar and then looked around the shops for a while.
We also indulged in an ice cream at Ölandsglass. We were recommended this place and can only agree - really good ice cream! By their own account, Ölandsglass is one of the few places in Sweden that makes ice cream and sorbets by hand and on site, using only natural ingredients.
The harbour in Borgholm
In the centre of Borgholm there is a small harbour with both small boats and some larger ships. It is always nice to look at boats, so here we also strolled around for a while.
Kapelluddens camping
We are currently standing with the motorhome on Kapelluddens campinghere in Borgholm. It is a relatively large campsite, with both a beach and pool area, and above all it is close to the centre of Borgholm.
The heat is intense and there is hardly any wind at all. When we arrived, we rolled into our place, unfolded the awning and opened all the windows. We also took a nice swim!
Unfortunately we forgot to photograph the campsite, so there will be no pictures of it. In the evening, however, we heard a sound ... music? We went towards the sound and found a band playing. So we offer a picture from that instead!

Sounds like a cosy day. Maybe "After Beach" is still there at Strand and then it can be nice there for an afternoon. But I do not know if it has become a "youth centre" there....
Shopping at the market square is also cosy and the Öland potato is very nice. Another tip is to try the smoked fish from the Kårehamn fish stall, a short distance from Köpingsvik.
Stay well!

It looks like you have a great time here on Öland! If you go back to Löttorp, I can recommend the hamburgers at Kalk, and if you go down towards Färjestaden and a little south there is my favourite place StrandNära where the food is very good. A decent campsite just outside Färjestaden is KronoCamping Saxnäs, where I have worked in the reception for... hm... 10 years ago. God how time goes fast! Hope you still have a great time here on the island!

Yes, Öland is something special, so beautiful nature to hike in. Now it was quite a few years since we were there last, but "before" we went there almost every summer. When we were really young, it was a tent, then we rented a cottage instead. The last time we were on Öland we rode a motorbike and then it must have been 2002 when I think about it that we were last on Öland. Wow over 10 years ago, time to go there again!

Ditte, thanks for the tips, but now we unfortunately do not have much time left here on Öland. We went past Strand, however, and it was nice down by the harbour!
Helena, we really like it here and are very happy with our Öland holiday! Many thanks for the great tips! Unfortunately, we do not have much time left on Öland now, but maybe we will come back!
Annelie, we hear positive things about Öland from many people and now we also have good experiences from here!

Dear FREEDOMtravel.
We are travelling to Øland in May and have already received lots of tips from your travel site. However, it seems that Lammet och grisen only opens in June. We would otherwise like to visit it.
We are looking forward to exploring the island and its nature. We have never been there before.
If you want, you can also follow us on Facebook: Two Danes On Tour.
Many travel greetings
Rasmus and Anne Marie
