Are you aware that there are now new weight rules for motorhomes under a new EU regulation? The new regulation includes a number of new concepts. Here are explanations of the terms, based on an article on CampingSverige.se.
- Standard equipment: What is required for the vehicle to be used as intended
- Additional equipment: Factory-fitted optional equipment, such as a stronger engine, bike rack, awning, etc.
- Weight in running order: The weight of the vehicle, including the driver (75 kg), with a 90 per cent full fuel tank and the weight of fuel and fluids, spare wheel and tools.
- Actual weight: Weight in running order plus the weight of additional equipment
- Maximum technically permissible load weight: What used to be called 'total weight'
- Payload: What used to be called "maximum load" is now determined individually for each vehicle, depending on the weight of the additional equipment.
The new regulation aims to make life easier for motorhome owners. According to CampingSverige.se In the future, the Swedish Transport Agency will specify "actual weight" instead of "weight in running order", which means that "useful weight" is more in line with what you can load. This could be a good thing, although I'm currently a bit confused by all the new concepts. What do you reckon?

These weight rules for motorhomes are a real mess. But what authority has tried to make something simple. It's good that you're trying to clarify the concepts. We have read about this in both Swedish and German mobile phone magazines. Really confusing. 3 M
