Here in Pampas Marina in Solna there are about 20 Aquavillas and 15 houseboats - all for permanent year-round living. I have mentioned the Aquavillas before and received some questions about them, so I thought I would tell you a little more ...
What is an Aquavilla?
So what is an Aquavilla? Well, exactly what it sounds like: a villa that floats on water. The idea comes from one of the owners of Pampas Marina, and the villas are manufactured by a subsidiary of the marina, down in Västervik.
Building permits and detailed plans
"As far as I know, there are currently only people living in Aquavillas here in Pampas, but it is underway in other places as well, including Västervik and Norrköping. Living in an Aquavilla permanently requires both a building permit and a detailed plan from the municipality, which regulates infrastructure, safety and environmental issues.
Therefore, although it is underway in several municipalities, it takes quite some time for the ideas to materialise. The villas are available in several different models, as you can see in the pictures below. Read more about the Aquavillas here.
BP says:
Alternative housing is certainly not wrong in my opinion, especially considering the housing shortage (rental apartments).
The aqua villas you show in the first picture remind me of the new square, boring houses that are being built in Täby Centrum. You can sort of see what your neighbour is having for dinner - for example. Zero charm, and I don't think these two villas have that either - charm that is.
Much more fun with a stretcher that has character. But that's me;-)

The Aquavillas have been around for a while, but I can't say that they are nice and they are quite close together. But the location is central and the environment around Pampas is very nice) (as a child I spent a lot of time in and around Karlberg Castle).
I think your houseboat has more charm ... But everything is a matter of taste.
The Aquavillas are somehow part of Pampas Marina, just as the houseboats along our quay are part of Norra Hammarbyhamnen. It would be empty without them.

BP, it's fun with different types of accommodation and good with alternatives! I think the aqua villas are nice, but I can certainly agree that the houseboat is more charming! We like the fact that our boat is really a boat!
Ditte, as I said, I think they are nice, but the houseboat is a bit more charming! Solna city's rule is that there must be eight metres between the aqua villas, so Pampas has probably put them as close together as possible...

According to what I know, there is also a floating villa in Kalmar, on Varvsholmen!!! I would imagine living on a boat, it would be cosy.

I was just thinking about this, i.e. the Aqua villas, when I was there in June, and sat in one of the neighbourhood pubs around these boats/houses. Thanks for the info...

Håkan, yes, there may be similar buildings here and there that you don't know about. Cosy to live on a boat!
Katta, yes, were you in the neighbourhood? Next time you can visit us in the boat!

I think it seems more cosy to live in a boat than in a water villa, although I wouldn't say no to one either if the offer came up.
