It has been quite cold in the houseboat when we wake up in the mornings. A bit worrying as I have heard that there will be colder months after August ...
What a difference!
We haven't yet switched on the radiators and underfloor heating, but we don't think these efforts will be enough to keep us warm this winter. We think a lot of the cold is due to damp, and a neighbour recommended buying a dehumidifier.
Now we have bought an electronic dehumidifier from Jula, which also emits some heat. We switched it on last night. If it helped? Wow, what a difference! The air in the crawl-in enclosure (the old engine room) is dry and it is warmer throughout the boat.

Sometimes it only takes a small thing to get warm;-) And he's handsome too;-)

Fantastic appliance! I'm sure it won't be long before you light the stove and wrap yourself in a blanket, but in the meantime I'm sure the August humidity is making itself known to you too.
Maybe the appliance will be used in Freedom at some point too, faster dehumidification if you are going away in the autumn a bit unplanned 😉.

Perfect, we have one of these in the basement, but a different brand!
Woods and it has been running smoothly now for many years !!!
A lot of water it has drawn from the cellar, good for washing...
Have a nice weekend/hugs

Glad it was better than the machine! But rather cold when you sleep than too hot ... I think! (just when you sleep, not otherwise 😛 )

BP, yes, it's really nice!
🙂
Frankie & Co, it looks great! The real stove will actually be installed in the new room upstairs... which we won't build until spring. But we have a little "pretend" stove too, which runs on electricity...
😉
Rolle and Carina, understand that it is good for washing! It is really effective.
Alexandra, I also like it to be cold when you sleep... but it's worse when you get out of bed.

Good investment, I think. Because the moisture on a boat can be troublesome. You're kind of surrounded by water...
Ventilating during the less humid time of day and having good ventilation throughout the boat also helps.
Glad the device helped!
Then there are small "dry balls" that collect moisture that can be placed in different locations. They also help to remove some moisture. However, in smaller spaces...

In an environment surrounded by water and lots of humid air, dehumidifiers and good ventilation are certainly required. Condensation is probably the major problem for the houseboat.

Ditte, yes, it was probably the right investment! We have small dry balls too, under the floor and in the cold store. We usually put them in the motorhome in the winter too.
Lars, yes, we notice that it gets damp... and we get condensation on the windows in the kitchen.
