I was listening to a programme on Swedish Radio about electrical safety in mobile homes. There was an electrician who was upset about how electricity and water are mixed in motorhomes, and who reported this to the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority. He argued that the manufacturers are so keen to keep prices down (only curtains and visible things are allowed to cost) that important things such as electrical safety are being neglected.
The consumer becomes responsible
Once the consumer has bought the product, he or she is responsible. And as a consumer of such an expensive product, you naturally expect the electricity to be installed properly! I think this discussion is important and interesting.
But what kind of "combination box" he is talking about, where there should be both electricity and water - I don't get it. Surely there must be some specific motorhome that has it organised in that way? Or do you understand what he means? Please listen to the report in Swedish Radio.

We have never seen this on our motorhomes.

Have a nice Caravan weekend / Hugs

No idea, as we do not have a motorhome. Oh, I don't think he's thinking of "modern" houses in England where the electricity for the hot water is switched on with an ordinary switch... in the shower.

Our -08 also does not have water and electricity together in the exact way he points out even though we have a service hatch with facilities gathered such as incoming water, grey water out in respective hoses and electrical cord on the wind but no open electrical contacts and the batteries are in other places and we have not seen that combination on other people's cars so far so we do not understand what he means.

Seniors Speculate, 3 M says:
We probably have no place in the motorhome that has electricity and water together. Perhaps the wires behind the cooker and sink. But it is true that manufacturers build based on the wrong criteria from the start. It should be cheap, and not weigh anything. Then the quality will probably follow, unfortunately. But we know that they take no responsibility in either camp, neither dealers nor manufacturers. It is really frustrating. Hugs 3 M

Hmmm something completely different! We may be in the wilderness outside Östersund for a week in October. Do you know who is in the business if it would be possible to rent a caravan there on site, instead of dragging it from here. That is, if we can rent one in Östersund and pull it out to the site? Do you know anyone who rents? Someone to recommend? What would be a reasonable price? We have never dealt with a caravan so the questions are ¨this stupid then, sorry.

Rolle and Carina, no you wonder what kind of motorhome he is talking about...? Funny that they didn't mention it...
BP, ajaj... well, England has never had the best building constructions...
Frankie & Co, since almost nobody understands what he means, it would have been good if he had told us which model he is talking about...
Seniors Speculate, when it comes to that aspect he is certainly right! Many things break easily. At the same time, it is so important to have nice hangers for wine glasses and the like. Strange priorities, you might think.
No M, there are certainly many renters, both companies and private individuals. Companies up in the country I have no control over unfortunately. You can search for private renters on Blocket. A new modern motorhome can cost 10,000 SEK/week. A caravan should be significantly cheaper. How much cheaper depends on the age, size and landlord. I don't have exact information unfortunately.
