Britons are now being warned by the British Foreign Office about odd laws in other countries, which they should look out for on holiday. Here is a small selection of laws that Brits are being warned about, according to The Independent.
Things not to do while travelling
- Venice - Feeding the pigeons is illegal
- Japan - Certain nasal sprays are not allowed into the country
- Barcelona - You can't go to town in a bikini
- Singapore - Chewing gum is banned on fast trains
- Barbados - You should not wear camouflage clothing.
- Nigeria - Mineral water cannot be brought into the country

In Singapore, you can hardly smoke in the street anymore. Of course, you can't throw cigarette butts or chewing gum on the ground.
I understand about the pigeons of Venice. But I've never heard of camouflage clothing in Barbados and mineral water in Nigeria.

BP, I've heard that there are strict rules in Singapore, so you have to be careful... I can understand the pigeons in Venice, but I'm still surprised. I have the impression that there are usually vendors there selling food to feed the pigeons, and that pigeon feeding is mentioned in guidebooks as an activity for children...
