Yesterday we bought some new furniture for the houseboat: a rattan sofa group. We have planned to have a living room at the top of the boat, and then it can be good to have some furniture ... Right now the room is quite small, but when we rebuild, it is this room that will be larger.
A lot of work
Since this kind of furniture is mostly sold as outdoor furniture, it was a good price at the end of the summer. In addition, it was sold disassembled, which I thought seemed convenient since it had to go in through narrow little doorways. Yes, it was smooth. I swear we swore as we spent several hours trying to screw the thing together. The Chinese manufacturers would have heard a lot of abuse if they had been here. But now the sofa is in place!

It must be just right to use rattan style in a "boat house", and it looks good too.

Nice! So the Chinese have looked at Ikea's manuals and learnt from them;-)

Annika, we will make various small changes during the autumn. The major remodelling will probably be in the spring... we have to get the building permit first....
Henny, yes, but it felt like it fit... even though it's probably really outdoor furniture!
😉
BP, thank you! Yes, apparently... The funny thing was that there was rattan in front of all the screw holes, so it was almost impossible to access them...

How nice it turned out! It feels like the rattan furniture is tailor-made for the houseboat. And as for the instruction manual in Chinese, that adds an extra spice. My experience is that they are usually ok but now the furniture was probably made for export ... it turned out well.

just right with rattan on the water 🙂
yes, the thing about screwing together furniture is swear-inducing.... here at home, it is important to put hearing protection on the children when something is to be assembled! have a fairly short fuse in such cases 🙂

Ditte, glad you think they fit! It wasn't really that hard to understand, but the rattan was in the way of the screw holes everywhere - crazy construction!
Aniika, it feels great! We haven't really realised that it's true yet...
😉
Agneta, yes, you really have to be patient...!!!
