Now we (read Peter) have laid new flooring in the big room on the lower deck, which means that we have parquet flooring in the summer room. At least it's almost done - just a small corner left as it turned out that we need one more package. Peter has laid many many floors in his life, but he says this was by far the worst.
A lot of work
The walls of the houseboat are rounded, so every edge had to be sawn into its own shape. Also, the old floor was uneven, so he had to sand here and there. And there must be a hatch in the floor - so you can open it and look down into the hull. But now it's (almost) done!
Lena & Jan says:
Beautiful floor, do you choose a specially treated floor for a houseboat, thinking about the proximity of the water?

Yes, the new floor gives more of a feeling of ... floor. The old one that I actually liked is more ... boat-like, so to speak.
We live in an oval house with no "straight" walls - a floor layer's total nightmare, I know...

Lena & Jan, we just put in regular laminate flooring. However, we have actually bought bathroom colour when we painted...
BP, the oval shape is not great for laying floors... we've noticed.

very nice floor you put in! And it's nice to be able to fix pretty much everything (even if it takes time) instead of bringing in craftsmen.
