We have received some questions about how it works with water and sewage in the houseboat. Do you release the wastewater straight out or do you have tanks, or how does it really work? We will of course answer that!
Municipal water and sewerage
How water and sewage work in houseboats is probably different. Here in Pampas Marina, all houseboats have municipal water and sewage. This means that it basically works like in any other house. However, there are some small differences.
Switching on the water with a knob
The water is switched on using a knob, which then ticks down. This means that the water can never be left on for an extended period of time, reducing the risk of leaks and water damage.
Tank for waste water
All waste water (both grey and black water) flows into a tank in the old engine room (our closet). This has to be emptied from time to time, by turning a knob.

There are many practical issues to consider. However, even houseboat life probably has its own solutions. Interesting to read!

We have followed all your posts about the houseboat with great interest. We think it is a fascinating way to live, especially to get such a location and surroundings in a big city. It will be fun to hear how you enjoy and find yourself in the slightly different way of living and living, but it will certainly go very well, good luck. Hugs, 3M

Katta, yes there are some new practical things to think about. Most things seem to work relatively smoothly, from what we've noticed so far...
BP, haha, you don't have to think too much about what's in the tank. It's a closed system...
😉
3M, we also think it's exciting! And the location is really good, it is even more central than how we lived before!
