When you live with water in all directions, there is the risk of dropping things, which disappear forever. We haven't lost anything yet, but we've heard of neighbours losing everything from bicycles to wedding rings.
When living on water
The water here is 12 metres deep and dark, with a muddy bottom ... One thing you don't want to lose is your keys, so we've each bought a key ring that we hope will help us in the event of an accident. In contact with water, an air tube is inflated, which floats to the surface after a while. At least they say it works ...

It does work! We have tried it and it is good to have a couple of boat hooks nearby on the deck!
I hope that the tangle of pumps and other things can now be over....And an expression I learnt during my years in Beijing; "just break down and move on"; it has helped me many times.

Ditte, good to hear that it works! I'm thinking that the key ring might not be too heavy, but we don't have a lot of keys....
